Hello everybody, I am inspecting the possibility of buying some Saturn development stuff, so if you have any please tell me what it is and how much you want for it.
I am mainly interested in the original Saturn Sophia development unit, but only if in perfect working condition; I might consider alternatives, but only if I don't find one of the dev kits or if it is too expensive to buy.
I live in Canada, but if the price for the kit is ok I am willing to pay for international shipping, no matter how much it is, I have done it before for other much bigger pieces of electronics hardware.
Please email me at jollyrogerxp @yahoo.com
Thank you.

you will need to pay heavily for the system.
last night on Yahoo Japan Psy-Q development system - console, blue cart, mirage cd emulator and all the manuals - went for auction at around $500... if I had money I'd bid for the manual set as I'm still mising few but ... guess I'll settle with one part of development system that runs burned CD with multi-zone setting... with no manual I haven't figure out what the black unit under the console is for...

That's fine by me. I am not interested in many consoles, so I am prepared to pay whatever it takes to get the parts I am interested in.
As I said I am mostly interested in the Sophia system or the CartDev system, the price does matter but only if it is absurd.
For example: $500 for either the Sophia or the Cartdev in perfect working condition? no problem.

good luck mate.
I'm sure another set will surface on Yahoo Japan as I've seen two this year... not sure about eBay though...

First to the original post... you're best off using an Action Replay with cable... much cheaper, and much easier to get the complete system! The software is freely downloadable.
The problem with Sophia is, you WILL NOT find the software. Its easier to find a complete CartDev, but for the whole system including mirage, $500 is a good price (i.e. it could be more, seen it happen).
As I always say, Saturn is a hard console to dev WELL for, due to the dual processors. Not many games pushed it to its limit.
dj... do you have the link for the Psy-Q that went on yahoo? Would love to see that! I'd have bid too if a) had a bit more money and b) had known about it!

Thanks to everybody for the suggestions.
I was not aware of the difficulty of getting the software for the Sophia kit.
Also, I would much prefer to buy from somebody who has owned the kit at least for a while, I don't like bidding for an auction.
Probably the best solution for me would be to get the CartDev, when I will find one... is the Psy-Q kit identical?
If anybody knows of one for sale please contact me.

don't worry, I am not looking for the sound box, just the main system.
Actually I am probably more interested in the CartDev at this stage...
Please, anybody who has one, talk to me :-)

For Psy-Q cartDev you will need following items - correct me if I'm wrong as mine's not complete either...
Psy-Q saturn with SCSI port at side
Blue DevCart + PC Card with SCSI port
Mirage CD emulator
Psy-Q saturn with region switch and interruption cable
black unit sits underneath and connected via the cable
System disc + FDD+document
I'm only half way there since I'm still missing Mirage box and Blue DevCart and its matching PC Card. Also I'm missing document folder with disc and etc. With little time I have I won't have complete setup for some time...

Are the Psy-Q system and CartDev the same?
Any clue about who might sell the complete system?
Thanks,

You don't *need* the mirage CD emulator, its just nice ;)
Still, it is a LOT cheaper to go the homebrew way and use the action replay with link cable ;) Plus no dev software is all that easy to get hold of, bar the software for doing that! A totally complete Psy-Q is pretty rare. A totally complete CartDev is more common, but goes for a hell of a lot of money (expect to pay a price of about $200 per unit, i.e. $200 for the system, $200 for the mirage, $200 for the CartDev box). Version A was lousy, you need a version B.
Still, I'll say again, THE ACTION REPLAY METHOD WORKS!!! And that costs you... the price of a saturn unit (shall we say $40? or cheaper if you know where to go), the price of an action replay ($30) and the commlink stuff (god knows, maybe $15?)

That's very true, I understand this.
The reason I am looking for the CartDev is that I like original development kits, for example I have an original SGI Indy / Ultra64 development kit complete with all the software.
It as taken me a year and a half to find all the software and I almost never use it, but I wanted to have that one instead of other kits because I liked it best.
That's why I am after either the CartDev or the Sophia.
