There are a few threads where I mention a friend of mine it's all the same person. He is by and far THE MOST PARANOID person I know He thinks the following

-The FBI is spying on him through Facebook and because he supports Ron Paul he's on some sort of list.
-Microsoft is spying on us right now through Windows and Kinect and sharing that info with the Government
-Japan is unsafe and full of radiation
- The CIA runs the media
-The World Really is ending next year

That's just off the top of my head. Seriously I've never met somebody so paranoid. I thought I was paranoid, I don't trust anyone but he takes the cake, We didn't speak for a good 3 years because he was so crazy, but he's calmed down since then....

Feel free to talk about paranoid loonies you know but I don't think they top Old Slim.

I wouldn't doubt the FBI would rely heavily on Facebook as an investigative tool, usually lazy local police and reporters do that. Unless he joins some crazy cult or other questionable circles, no one that's not a friend will watch him. LOL

-Microsoft is spying on us right now through Windows and Kinect and sharing that info with the Government

As far as I know, the only hidden hooks for Windows (and Intel) have to do with DRM. Something the Government doesn't put on it's high priority list.

-Japan is unsafe and full of radiation

Remind him of Hiroshima and Nagasaki. Japan recovered pretty well.

- The CIA runs the media

Nope, that would probably be control freaks.

-The World Really is ending next year

It's got to end some time, but I really doubt anyone living would know when.

He should be more worried about Facebook and Google, because they actually are spying on you.

I have 1 word for your friend:

CHILL ...

Whatever happens tomorrow or the next year, it doesn't sound like anything he does will change his fate if all of that stuff is true.

So, chill.

paranoid schizophrenia has a high chance of being terminal, if your friend doesn't get help. my dad had it and almost died from it. your friend needs to see a doctor before it gets worse. at best he will end up a vegrant or drug addict, at worse, he could die or end up takeing others with him. my dad discribed it as a dream that perpetualtes itself. sometimes you dont know what is real or fake. when it gets real bad is when the people that they love and care about arent trusted by them. then there isnt much you can do. no shit seriousness talking here.

I just thought it was Slim being Slim. He does talk about having visions and he also has major migranes but he wasn't diagnosed with anything beyond migraines.

As some here know I have a background in Psychology and paranoia is a symptom of many things, autism, Anxiety disorders, Schizophonia which if he had it he probably would have known by now since he's in his late 20s, Personality disorders and delusional disorders.

He seems to function fine and has average to above average intelligence, though his family history does indicate what I will (out of respect for his privacy and I probably over stepped bounds just by posting what he's told me) that there might be issues there.

Edit- Ok I just talked to him. flat out told him I think he's paranoid he went on a government speil. I just let him and eventually deduced he has an anxiety disorder.

Yeah, I'd say if he really believes those things, it's probably part of some mental illness. I went through a period when I believed stuff like that, but then I realized it was all a delusion (the medication helped).

It was hard to present to him.

But it was good practice If I'm going to do this for a living I need to be blunt with out it being a kick in the balls

I prefer to use probabilities to judge what is likely, unfortunately it isn't often positive.

However it is rarely paranoid, I need reasons to think the CIA runs the media. The FBI data mining Facebook? Probably, but I doubt they're doing too much with the vast majority of the data given how much there is of it.

Realistically I anticipate people lying to my face than telling me the truth because it is a white lie. Those annoy me greatly.

This being said, Media manipulation and mental programming through it do exist, not in a tinfoil hat kind of way, but in a reproduction of convenient values kind of way.

The powers that be are - in fact - interested in shaping public "values" and "opinions" through clever manipulations of language, and not-so-clever simplification of ideas; and this is the real role of the mass media in the current social stage.

Politics, Consumption, even everyday life aspirations and beliefs, are all strongly (but under the table) influenced by carefully crafted implicit messages in the media. Language, and thus, the ideas conveyed by language, is also shaped this way, to influence the masses.

Kind of, It's in our programming to find what we think is utopic. If we haven't affirmed what we like/or who we are with social interactions, we fill the void with internet/movies/video games. Also there isn't any one controlling interest; that has an interest, in our interests:dance:. Ie; the govt. big banks, CIA etc. There is lots of people who want you to connect with what they believe, or want you to believe. If not they want some positive feedback(Ie; Spying). This has been going on since wayyyyy before the internet, CIA, FBI...Why, Because it is human nature. Clever manipulations are probably as old as man.

After working in the military, I can tell you one thing. Unless your really high on the food chain, there isn't enough resources to focus on you for any real "spying". Also the amount of "approvals" is "maddening". It's not like the movies. I would say It would take over 1,000 people to keep a constant lookout for 1 person. Military intelligence is a oxymoron.

Also as a whole, after looking at secret/top secret information, It's some of the most boring-est reads ever. Very rarely is there something of interest. The media likes to hype it up area 51 style.

I can almost guarantee, The govt. has less interest in you, than you have in it.

That is quite true, sir, but let us just agree on gaming, on which we both have similar tastes. We'll never agree politically, and that's alright with me, mate. I respect you as a gamer. And gaming is more enjoyable than politics.

He does smoke pot

I've hung around with a guy who has the same f'cking syndrome, and is by far and away the most paranoid being on this planet or so I thought.

Everyone is against him! Apparently there was whole secret societies plotting against him, turned out he had a weed and alcohol problem (specifically vodka & Skunk).

Once your mate has truly lost the plot, then gather up your things and get the fuck out. That's it, you're done. You're done and everyone else is done, there is nothing that can be done unless it's by him.

Ether he needs professional help, or you better be amazing with the friend thing.

Yes, let us put our political differences aside. It's all about the games here!
Let history decide which of us is right and wrong politically.

Let us Game!

interesting thread that i cant read half of XD (GodofHardcore is blocked):

my view on people that are overly paranoided about shit. "so what nothing you can do about it does it really effect you at the end of the day? no just live your life happy and if you cant be happy you need help(either by doctor or easierly to get illigal drug)"

I see more of problem, he smokes pot which I have seen make people think weird shit. Regardless what people say, I believe pot does a lot more than what the users think it does. So most likely the mixture of Weed and some other stuff he MIGHT be taking or eating might effect this.

Being overally paranoid is actually some what crazy. Does he always sit in a corner and rock back and forth too? Does he act normally in public or at home? Or does he cut news paper articles out about everything he's paranoid about and stare at them?

You should convince him to join up with the Illuminati to overthrow the US Government, but he's probably already convinced they're working together to harvest his DNA for super soldiers or something.

Of course he is going to say that. The fun part about people who are delusional is that they can't begin to tell that they're delusional. Sort of a catch 22 that is hard to break on your own as there is no easy way for you to figure it out. Example: mom isn't dead, the FBI has her sequestered in Cuba. Her grave? A fake planted to make people think she is really dead. The body in the grave? Someone elses. The DNA evidence showing it is her? Also faked.

People like that create a loophole every chance they get that essentially demands a negative be proven. Not hard to sample the DNA of a skeleton and show it is of your ancestry. Very hard to prove that the DNA test wasn't faked somehow beyond doing it yourself.

In any case if the government was out to get me, and I have legitimate evidence to show reason for concern, then acting paranoid would be normal. Paranoia without legitimate evidence is just paranoia.

Dude is probably schizophrenic.

Republicans are the ones who didn't seem to have much issue pushing Obama's "Kenyan" birth as a legitimate concern. Granted it was probably a minority that actually believe in the bullshit but they're extremely vocal.

My dad's mother-in-law tried to convince me that the government controls the weather. She said they could put a rain cloud right above my head if they wanted to. She also thought she was on some sort of "list" the government is keeping an eye on.
