I was at a local retro game shop the other day and I saw Ferrari F355 Challenge for PS2. I have the Dreamcast version of it, and while there are certain things I don't like about it, I still think it's a pretty good game. I enjoy pretty much anything by AM2. Anyway, I was wondering if there's any difference between the Dreamcast port and the PS2 port. Is the PS2 version just a port of the Dreamcast version? Is there any reason for me to pick it up, considering I already have the DC version?
For those unfamiliar with the game, it was a Naomi racing simulator type game that featured only one car: the F355. The arcade version of the game had 3 monitors, to give you the sensation of looking out of the sides and front of the vehicle. It ran on 4 Naomi boards. It had some pretty detailed graphics for the time. It was ported to Dreamcast and PS2, apparently. The Dreamcast version was basically just the center monitor.

I was under the impression the PS2 version is just a port of the Dreamcast edition, which is why I haven't ever picked it up. Besides, with the Dreamcast and NAOMI being so technically similar, I think it's likely that Sega's console has the more accurate treatment. Does anyone know if that's about right?

It's a port from the DC version, yes. Of course it's inferior graphically, but it's still a good racing simulator.

The PS2 version has link-up play for up to six consoles, if I remember correctly!

Wasn't there also a port of Zombie Revenge in the works for PS2? Does anyone know if this was completed when it was cancelled?

PS2 version has 16:9 widescreen mode and it supports better racing wheels like the Logitech one.

That's about what I figured. I really need to get an RGB cable for my Dreamcast.

Or just do the VGA mod? (or buy a VGA box) as its better quality than RGB. and VGA is worldwide, scart can be a pain.

I have many fond memories of blasting around Monza on the old 3 screen arcade rig! ... Ferrari Challenge used to be my favourite arcade racer alongside the 8 cabinet Daytona rig [of which there is still one in the Trafford Centre ]! ... I really should make a special mention about the physics engine, which I always thought was incredibly realistic for its time!

I want to play it on my Sony PVM. I figure that's the closest you can get to playing a Naomi at home (without an actual Naomi).
I have a VGA box already, by the way.
