Has anyone heard of this compilation CD? I obtained it in 2000 (timestamps are from 1998/1999) when I was very involved in *ehrm* backing up my collection, as a ZIP file and I'm curious as to what the original looks like or if it even exists. I'm quite sure that my archive is incomplete because some 'readme' text files refer to missing documents. This CD claims to be by SCEA. It's approximately 260mb in 4200 files consisting of SCEA/E tools, both Win3. 1/Win9X and DOS based, C and MIPS source as well as original PDFs, quite a nice spread but it's incredibly unorganized and doesn't seem too professional. It also includes documents on DTL dev hardware as well as plenty of references to SN hardware, I've never seen anything like it. I wonder if this is on a pressed disc and what it comes with/who gets it and if it's worth releasing (or if it's confidential or something wondering if I could make something off it >:)) If anyones interested I made a gigantic 300k DOS directory listing of it I could upload to imageshack.

well the name basically has it all... its the ps1 programmer tools cd delivered with the isa/pci dev playstations... and yes, thats why programming games for any sony console is cool. in the beginning you always get documents and example sources with japanese comments and files sorted in very creative ways.

yeah.

it is probably not worth much.

I'm just glad I can read C because Japanese is still out of my reach :)

Yep, that would be it, except mine is from 1999, dunno what the version number is. Maybe I'll upload parts, any specific requests of content? The hardware doc w/ GPU info is very crappy Antipasta :(

Oh not that doc again, with no real info :smt022
I guess it's time to take a disassembler to the official libraries :smt071

Not particularly, a response like that deserves a snap though. Discovering this CD has brought me more grief than I had hoped for, everyone wants it and the FTP is becoming more iffy by the day. I appreciate what people have already shared but I'm prepared to share only what is already leaked, and I don't mind holding onto it for leverage since the dev hw/sw playing field is VERY uneven. If someone like Ricky decides to upload unknown territory such as his copy of this CD, I'd surely share my version for the sake of their contribution. You have to give a little to get a little.

kyu, you know me, and we've talked for years. but you're being selfish with this. no, you don't *have* to release it. but lots of people share things. everything on that ftp was originally shared by someone who shouldn't have. i uploaded something thats not been publically released before.

I understand your concern that HI_Ricky has that cd, right there, and its not out. But using the term "leverage" sickens me. The problem with that ftp is that its horribly maintained. people have been attempting to upload good software, but its never moved, and now the only way of getting it (the upload directory) is locked for downloads.

So i agree with you, that you shouldn't upload it to that ftp. But you want to keep it because you need leverage, and don't seem to think anyone deserves it but you. (someone sent you that iso in the first place man) and I think you don't need to upload it, because the only person who will have access to it is the ftp admin, and it'll never get moved for the rest of the board.

excuse my bitchyness, sorry buddy.

edit: also, you truely can't complain about people asking for it, as you created a topic which does nothing more than shove it in peoples faces that you have it and they don't.
