So at some point in the future I want to get my self a Japanese N64 and a 64DD, however there's some things on my mind. I have a few, probably brain dead, questions I hope you don't mind answering.

Can I use a PAL PSU on an NTSC N64 without any problems?

Can I use an RGB modded N64 with a 64DD without any problems?

Lol, I know they're probably a bit brain dead, but I'm unsure about these things and don't want to fry anything, especially a 64DD. I want to play on a 64DD in RGB, and prefferably without using a stepdown converter.

Thanks. It's a lot of money to drop on a 64DD to not ask before you try lol. I don't know much about circuitry so not sure how those kind of things (like modifying the main board or switching PSU) would have an effect. I'm assuming controllers are the same? That's pleasing to know because stepdowns are a pain and RGB is too amazing to not take advantage of on a system like that. Just don't want to plug it all together and watch the 64DD go pop.

I guess another question would be, are there any things to know or any things to look out for when buying/owning a 64DD?

AFAIK the controllers are universal (they work on any region system). As for buying, expect to pay quite a bit for one naturally.
Maybe try getting a system that has some games with it already (might work out cheaper than importing them separately etc).

Cool. What about disk read errors? Are they common?

In what way? Is it usually the disk or the console that messes up?

The data on the disk might as well be gone, that's why.

What about expansion packs? Can they be used from any region? Like, can I use my PAL expansion pack in my NTSC machine?

What happens when 64DD is connected to PAL N64? I haven't heard an attempt of that.

The 64DD has a US/JPN CIC inside, so it won't "boot"
