Sega CD with strange video problem

Hi good day, a few weeks ago I purchased a Sega CD Moddel 2 from a charity auction, but when I got home and hooked it up to my sega megadrive 2 , it doesnt seem to work it will:

Flash the yellow light a few times, the screen will start showing a silhouette of the bios screen(for a split second) and then just turn purple, I can hear the music in the background, and I can see it trying to read the disc, but except for that the screen stays purply/blue?

I'm reasonably good with electronics ,so I opened it up, all the pins seems to be okay, and there's no obvious burst caps or burnt tracks on the board.

I really want to get it repaired as these dont show up that ofthen here(South Africa) and there not really worth importing due to high shipping, can it be fixed or should I look for a donor motherboard from a another unit?

PS I did post this on another forum but did not get any reply and it seems there are a lot more knowledgeable people on this forum....

Check youtube, while I was trying to solve my chassis' problem I have seena tutorial abotu a guy how solved your problem

Ive checked youtube for a while now about this but all that seems to appear is "fuse"related videos , nothing that looks like this , and Ive checked everything I could on the system, fuses, transistors,edge connector etc... all is 100% so I think its the processor or GPU not rendering the 2d sprites overlay on the background...

I doubt this console will ever work again hence why I made a WTB thread for a replacement.

Did you by any chance try to run the sega cd in pal 50hz?

Well I tried it on a stock NTSC-U model 1 and a Pal model 2 , with language/region and Hz mod (tried different combinations of Hz and lang) still does the same.

Do you think its a region problem, and I need a NTSC-J console, i tried looking that up on google but didnt find much info on region restrictions console wise?

Sega/mega cd only but up in the corresponding region it was meant for, ie japanese mega cd will only boot in japan mode, us sega cd in genesis mode, mega cd pal in pal mode etc. Only other thing I can think of is connectors are not cleaned properly.

The console does actually boot up just doesnt display the 2d sprites, and I can set my pal megadrive to japanese mode(60hz+ lang to Japanese), but that doesnt the same.

Or does it actually require a Japanese megadrive?
