Damn, that IS pretty cool...
As it stands, that may be the only way I'll be able to experience Doom 3... :smt009
But online Ultimate Doom and Doom II - Xbox Live might actually be worth it for a change! :smt042

I will most definitely be getting this one. It will go nicely with my special collector’s edition of Doom for the PC, which has Ultimate DOOM, DOOM 2, and Final DOOM all in one nice, neat little package :-D

If you have a modded Xbox you can play the Doom, Doom 2, Ultimate Doom and Final Doom ports with online deathmatch.
And it have nothing related to piracy since you can play the deathmatch having the shareware version or the licensed full version of theses games. ;-)

For those of us who don't chip/mod our XBOX's, this is great news. :-)

Of course.
...I actually thought that it plays better on the Xbox than on the P.C which shocked me somewhat.

Yeah, it is incredible on the Xbox. Best GFX yet I think. Great game too, which helps ;-)

I bought the limited edition a few days after it came out. It's a great game, although I can't compare it to the computer version (I've never played it).

i played both versions and i still think the GFX on the PC version is better. this doesn't take away from the fact that it's a great game to be played on both systems. i was surprised how much fun it was on xbox. ultimate doom was great too :)

Well the gfx on the pc should be better. Looks lovely at high resolutions.

Yeah, but you need a pretty kick-ass PC if you want Doom3 running any higher than about 20-25 fps. *AT LEAST* a Radeon 9800 Pro, for starters...

...I have DOOM III running on both the Xbox and the P.C, my P.C is a high end gaming setup jobbie and it looks lovely, it just plays nicer on the Xbox imo :)

That SmartJoy Frag the_steadster linked to is supposed to be a godsend for Doom 3.
So to those who own it, how faithfully have Doom and Doom 2 been ported? That's my main concern... :-D

I have the special limited addition as well. Havent really been scared yet, though. An imp pops in through a door, doesnt scare me, but makes me mad. Then soon he is disintegrated.

I'd guess you're missing two things: lights off, and headphones, cranked up loud. It won't "scare" you but I promise it'll make you jump ;)

I played up to the little spider heads in Doom 3 on PC. I couldn't go any futher, I was getting 2-4 FPS with those mofos running around. It is definately worth a purchase for Xbox, especially if your PC can't run it.

haven't tried the smartjoy frag with doom3 yet but i've had lots of fun with it in halo and halo2...gotta try doom sometime
and as far as the ports, i think they were pretty well pulled-off. i didn't play the old doom games much on PC (i was more of a duke nukem 3d person) but from what i see, it's pretty decent

Doom 3 was pathetic on the PC and from he looks of it the Xbox one doesnt seem that much better. Doom 3 could have been cool but it was just disapointing to me.

Wow, i thought it was a new thread until i saw my name under the name of the thread, then i realised it was made ages ago! :D
is there an artwork book with the collector ed.? don't know, the box seems too tiny to contain one, at least a decent one.

There's a concept art section in the game under "Extras". I haven't looked at it yet.

Better graphics does not make it a better game. Tell me, can you play co-op on the PC version?
Anyway, Like I said before, I got the CE the day it came out.

I find it much more enjoyable with a mouse and keyboard, with my nice monitor, and all that fancy stuff, surround sound included. Sure, i can do it with my xbox, but its still not the same.
And there was a mod allowing you to do the single player missions over the internet :)

Really? Surround sound in my livingroom is what I prefer
