I thought I'd start a thread related to software. (Free trade, info, help) I'm going to start gathering development software and wouldn't mind a unified place for member interaction.
Don't be stupid. Talk like this: "Hi, I'm Bob. I have P*oDG for PS2 and I'm looking for Mac C*d*Warrior for Y*r*z* let's trade!"
It'd be really cool if someone actually listed *pressed/printed* official software too for all consoles.

so, could you list you have software ?
Calpis
01-01-2005, 01:03 AM
Yes, and the features of each program. For example, what is actually on those CDs of yours ;) How much should they cost? What are they packaged with?
I'd like to know personally:
- What software comes with the Net Yaroze?
- Can anyone list the specific discs that come with various PsyQ?
- Are all Katana/WinCE SDK backwards compatible?
- What commercial software is available for GB/GBC
- Are there any suites for NEC consoles?

Net Yaroze:
Yaroze startup disc for ps
Net Yaroze AT/PC software disc
Net Yaroze key lock region memcard
Net Yaroze lightwave 4.X
PsyQ:
it plan on what hardware come with software.
Katana/WinCE SDK is compatible, just ver different
GB/GBC only use there offical SDK

I will set up a password-protected pub.
Certain people will get admin access and others will have download-only access.
Also, I can limit it to ?? MB per Session, so people don't start to leech everything without need.
For example, I am in need of SONYs Yaroze Dev-Tools (I don't own a Yaroze, but a debugger). I only got an somewhat-complete version of PSY-Q.
I think, only people with interest in development should access such a FTP.

Yeah, I didn't intend for this to be a bragging thread.. I was hoping some people could help eachother "get" or use some of the software as well as comprehensively document what software comes in what packages... By this I mean: listing the disc's table of contents, file CRCs etc, a breif description of each file as well as pictures. All this stuff when finished should be compiled into another medium such as my wiki idea. This kind of stuff has to be done sometime, might as well be here to show that this board isn't a place for just smalltalk, it is supposed to be about "expensive shit." Help the community get recognition by bringing better content than "What does X Dreamcast game cost?" ;)

I agree it would be handy to have all the software in the same place for people to actually use their "expensive shit" however most people who have dev kits have or can get hold of the relevant SDK to use it anyway. In many ways the software is useless to pretty much everyone else as a) they won't have the hardware b) a fair amount of software doesn't work without the hardware. What would be handy though is stripping the SDK's of usefull information for a "dev unit/software technical wiki"outlining all aspects of hardware/programming.

well, please keep looking cheap cheap cheap.
"cheap shit"= how long you can wait.(may be after rls 3-10year's)
"expensive shit"= how long you can wait.(may be before rls 3week- rls 3year's)
and plan on what you look for pay. use to develop/program it? for tech know? hacker?code?ice ?
if the dev util just for display on you home, of coz "cheap" is better
if the dev util for make money, of coz you not care it "expensive"
but for me. under officel price, it ready is "cheap", like after 3 year.
dev util no one want buy over offical price (but you a seller,you want sell it under cost?). and UNDER OFFICAL PRICE CAN CALL EXPENSIVE ?

Yes Ricky under or close the the office price is high :smt083 Official prices are to developers which includes the license to use it aswell as technical support. For collectors, we don't have the large bank balance of a company to pay for the SDK, nor does it come with the license or technical support hehe. No license + no technical support + not very rich customers = low price :smt045

Sooo... for a little bump, does anyone know of any GB(C) tools AT ALL? Considering how the system has been in use for more than 10 years, there must have been some official stuff leaked.
I'd like copies of documents for: SNES, GB and GG
Anyone have any sources? I have an ancient 1991 scene-released SNES doc, but I'd like something more up to date. 1994 is a good age.
Has anyone spotted official WS and NGP(C) docs? (Not that they're very necessary for those consoles)
I'd encourage people to post back here what documents people know exist for past generation consoles

I just came across something that might be interresting the SDK for the tapewave Zodiac that pocket pc/game console-ish thingy
Does anybody have any experience with this machine ?
It appears to be programmed on palm os based software here's the read-me file:
************************************************** *******************
* Tapwave SDK - Readme File *
* *
* IMPORTANT: Read before using the Tapwave Software Developer's Kit *
************************************************** *******************
This SDK is designed for PalmOS 68k and Tapwave Native Application
(TNA) development using Metrowerks CodeWarrior 8.x, 9.x and Microsoft
Visual C++.
68k Development:
This SDK must be used along with Palm OS SDK 5.0 R2 headers and
libraries for 68k development (It has not been tested with earlier
versions of the Palm OS SDK). You can obtain the Palm OS SDK from
Palm Source (http://www.palmsource.com).
Tapwave Native Application for device:
This SDK should be used with Metrowerks CodeWarrior 9.2. CodeWarrior
9.2 is currently only available as a beta release. It may be possible
to use this SDK with other toolkits (such as CodeWarrior 9.0 or gcc), but
many runtime features will be missing. Go to
http://www.metrowerks.com/MW/Services/Beta/default.htm for more information
on the CodeWarrior 9.2 beta program.
Tapwave Native Application for PalmSim:
This SDK should be used with Microsoft Visual C++ 6.0 with SP5, but it
should also work with any compiler that is capable of compiling standard
Win32 DLLs.
================================================== ===================
WHAT'S INCLUDED IN THE SDK
================================================== ===================
* Documentation
Tapwave developer documentation
* Incs
PalmOS header files modified to support multiple compilers;
including Metrowerks 68K and ARM, GCC 68K and ARM, Visual C++.
* Incs/TapWave
Tapwave header files, which support various compilers
* PalmSim
Debug Palm OS Simulator for the Tapwave platform
* ROMs
ROM images for device and simulator
* Samples
Sample projects
* X-Forge
X-Forge development kit, which has its own documentation
* Tools
Various development tools
* ARM_EABI_Support
CodeWarrior runtime library for developing Tapwave Native Applications.
This library should be used along with CodeWarrior 9.2

Also included are the ps2linux docs (that commercial devs also get) which IMO are MUCH more valuable for dev, as it outlines all the hardware and registers.
It does? OMG! :happyhap:
I thought the Linux kit prohibited all that! Now all I need is a devvable PS2 :p
Nah, ps2linux is actually pretty interesting. The only thing it blocks you out from is the IOP.

01-18-2005, 06:13 PM
does that mean you can't write IRXs? I think the homebrew community has written loads of those (that or they're all stolen) so there must be some doc floating about...
No, of course you can write IRX files. You just need an IOP GCC compiler. PS2 Linux on the other hand can't. Its blocked out. You go through them to use what you need.
The ps2dev community does NOT use ps2linux, as they prefer having complete access to the hardware. Like a professional developer would, but without the libraries.
Though, the compiler sony distributes is GCC, so it should be legal to redistribute.

no, no, no, you can use PS2 Linux dev some stuff
