Is there any way to play PS1/PS2 imports on a PS3? If not, I wonder if this sort of feature could manifest through the PS3 Jailbreak scene...

Speaking of, Is there any PS3 Jailbreak website that is actually reputable and not filled with nonsense?

The easiest way to buy an original 60gb debug PS3 with hardware compatability then you can run import games on any Playstation system (subject then being 100% compatable with the PS3 in the first place). ;)

The ps3 games are region free as i got silent hill about two weeks before it came out in the uk it was from hong kong cool place for getting hold of games before release as for ps2 ps1 game are not region free just like dvd and blue ray movies.

PS1 / PS2 games are dependant on the console region.

Yeah, I just bought a launch 60GB, bout to get rid of my slim. I realize that PS3 games are region free and PS1/PS2 games are not, I was curious if there was any way to hack this - or if it was even possible in the potential future of ps3 jailbreaking

To this moment, there's no way to "bypass" it.

Just be careful with early PS3s. The 20GB and 60GB versions are having problems with YLODs lately.

Yeah this is actually a YLOD 60gb that I just sent in to get fixed :0

You can get the Japanese version of Deadly Premonition for the PS3 if you dare. :P

I just watched the review for that, it looks awesome. Homage to Twin Peaks, sounds pretty sweet.

Its mostly due to the very bad quality paste the 20 and 60 gigers have. Opening up the machine (if you know what you are doing) and changing the paste will work wonders

Nice to meet you all guys! :-)

Good idea... my original 60 seems to be running pretty warm. Plus, I'd like to get the damn thing to quiet down a bit. If only I could locate my stupid Arctic Silver... I don't want to go buy another tube because I know I will locate my old one the next day on accident.

Johnny, I've got a 60gb launch model.
It's too warm and loud. Are symptoms of YLOD?
Is there anything I can do to prevent it?

Make sure that the PS3 is also in a reasonablely cool envioronment and make sure that it has enough circulation and there is not dust in the air holes. I have a launch Japanese 60gb machine and it's working well and cool.

Well, i would advice you to get someone to check it before it goes YLOD. Someone you trust.

Changing the paste (like Arctic Silver) and cleaning the dust seems like a nice idea. Again, this is what i read on the internet (including in this post: Daytime Dreamer). I never had a fat PS3, so i don't know much about how warm and noisy it can get. But again, YLOD can be prevented and i think it would be smart to check before happening.

My PS3 slim runs very quiet, but it does get a little warm sometimes. Since it stays on a wooden rack, i use 4 small supports underneath the PS3 to keep it a little bit distant of the rack, to help improve the ventilation and heated air dissipation. I made something like THIS (http://www.hifisolution.com.br/eshop.admin/imagens/hifisolution/Thumbs/TN500_shindo_aparelho.jpg) but not that high.

Some people even use notebook base coolers to keep it cooled. Anyway, while not in use protect in from dust, and don't put it on racks withouth ventilation. My PS3 is right next to the TV, no way i would put on the space the rack has for DVD, STB and so on.

Well, I boutgh it used. It have some dust.
I think I will open it and clear the dust to improve ventilation.

Get a small powerful fan and have it facing away from the PS3, it'll draw out the hot air.

Yeah I opened up and cleaned my PS3. I have posted some pics on various greek forums

Here they are again if anybody would like to see what the paste looked like. Its a 60gb Japanese PS3 (launch model CHECHA00)

The fan used to run pretty loud but after cleaning it, it really got a lot quieter. Also the air on the back now seems much warmer which means the new paste is doing a nice job. Paste used was Arctic Ceramique

open the ps3 and take off the top of the disk drive and swap disks. of youre a manly man and like doing things old school

a loooong time ago a guy made a switch so the ps3 wouldn't know disks were being switched. like this
