View Full Version : Nintendo DS Lite - wont save settings

I have a friend that have this problem. Each time he turns on the console must enter setting eg. date of birth, time etc. He does this and after that he must turn off. When he turns it back on the same stuff again must be entered (again and again). Someone knows what is causing this problem?

I'm was thinking of that but he told me that the battery is working. Maybe it's somehow faulty, but the DS Lite is working without the power charger.

Not saving the config perhaps it has corrupted fw
Dead internal battery (like a PC's BIOS battery) maybe? (Does the DS even have one?)
Firmware corruption could be tested/fixed by running FlashMe btw, since that's basically what it does: Overwrite the factory FW with a custom (modified) one. Of course if the memory holding the FW is faulty, this won't help either.

Thank's for your support guys. I will talk with my friend. By the way, how you can test the firmware with the FlashMe method Rso?

i do have a spare motherboard if you want to swap.
By the way, how you can test the firmware with the FlashMe method Rso?
You overwrite it with a known good one by running FM - If it still won't work, at least you can exclude the (software part of the) FW from your list of things to replace. In doing so you'll void your warranty obviously, so if, like raylyd suggested, sending it to Nintendo is an option, I'd recommend doing that instead.
