I just bought a new copy of skies of arcadia at a gamestop today for $20. I'm wondering why the game cube version is on one disk while the dreamcast version is on 2. Does it have to do with a compression technique or something?I'm wondering since this version has more stuff then the dc version.

Doesn't the GC disc hold 1.5Gb of data and the DC 1Gb?
Perhaps with better audio / video compression that the GC would be able to cope with (due to it being more powerful) they could get the two DC discs onto one GC disc and have a bit more left over?
I hope to pick this up at work one day on the GC (would only £24.49) but it never comes in.
I've still got my DC version but it has no VGA mode :smt011

US version of DC Skies of Arcadia has VGA support...of course, you'll need the original game :)

I have the crappy PAL one for Dreamcast but couldn't play it at all in Japan so I had to get the US one for it's VGA suport.

Yeah, the original GDRoms probably weren't full. So you could easily put it on a single GC disk.
All those extra bits were in the game to start with, you just had to unlock them with a VMU d/l from the web site. Another island, another big Looper to fight and something else.
Oh, but there is a new character in the GC version.

What are these extras you speak of? And is there a way to download them anymore?

You used the 'online' option on the main menu. There were 3 differnt d/ls. As far as I can remember you either had to do the d/ls or play Pinta Quest on VMU to get the final ultimate cham thingie to convert Cupil to ultimate form.
Not sure if you can still get an official d/l. Sure there must be a site out there with save games to d/l tho...
