Why would someone ruin an LE console with a modchip? just use a normal one for modding (I would say for playing too).

Why would someone want to ruin an LE console? Just use a normal one to mod it or play CDs.
Something's wrong here. Delete two of my messages, please.
I took it apart.. and ordered a modchip... hope I get it next week...
If I screw up something while soldering I guess I just buy a PAL dc and exchange the cases...
here it is in parts..

Did you ever try burning a CDR with data in the first track instead of audio like most? That is 'supposedly' the trick, but I don't know much about the Sakura DC.
***Oooh, what's the manufacturing date on it? That I'd LOVE to know.***
Hi, I have a japanese Sakura wars dreamcast with no mil cd support.
I want to play original pal games on it...
Is there anyway I can get the regionchanger software to boot on it ??
or is installing a modchip my only solution to play my pal games ??
I was gonna say swap disc but as you say it doesn't boot copied stuff.
Er, a chip is an option but Dreamcast can be had for about the same price as a modchip so...
Or I could swap my PAL consoles for your Sakura Wars one. :D lol

Back on topic: yes, just get a loose PAL system for your gaming needs and keep your Sakura DC as it is. Even if you were to do a region change you'd need to open it and bridge two solder points if I'm right which is kind of a no-no on limited edition systems.
Isn't there some method of burning data/data sessions instead of audio/data sessions that enables non-MIL CD Dreamcasts to boot?
Can you run an Action Replay or the DC-X on a non-MIL DC? Both can run import games.
I heard that these new systems would still boot MIL-CD but then you had to make the first track of your disc be data.
