View Full Version : Another SNK Dev Board
I'm sure some of you have seen this one. It was talked on the NG.com boards a few years ago and is thought to be a Atomiswave dev board. I personally have no idea. Before anything can be done with it, it needs the ICE rom and adapter, which I dont have...

wow, the only one known in the wild?
I think there are about 5 lying around. I just wish I knew exactly what I needed to get it working.

Wow!
That's a custom PC using a SH4 as CPU ?
Holy cow !
Now what was that used for ?
Is it me or it's missing the bootrom ?
Well, it does have a rom labeled FROM which may be its boot rom. But the In-Circuit Emulator port and ROM are empty. Another question is, what video card is compatable. When I first got it, for kicks I tried about 10 old PCI cards I had lying around. Of course, none worked.
I havent plugged it in for a few years now and I cant remember if the KB or Floppy showed any activity during boot, but I think they probably didnt.

If it's an atomiswave devkit you may need a Power VR based graphics card. Also it might require the proper bios written on the card flash.

Generally speaking, an ICE replaces the CPU, although that's obviously not the case here.
You'd need an SH-4 ICE. Take a look here:

Perhaps a Sophia ICE would work?

You could always ask them - they're usually pretty helpful. Or try Renesas. Your best bet would be to find a former SNK R&D worker (they had a department in California as well as Japan, so maybe you'll find someone who speaks English).
