Reliable? WinMX is probably the most WYSIWYG p2p out there. In my experiences, it generally takes WEEKS of being in queue, 24/7, to get anything substantial.

So, Kyuusaku, do you like WinMX?

I don't particularly like it because of the extremely long wait (to get anything) but I have in the past used it. Its great for rareish Japanese software/files because there are many Japanese users of the network.

i used winmx a long time ago (well, 2 years ago...it break the fantasy-telling story, though... :smt043 ) it wasn't bad , i like it better than kazaa.

There are builds of Kazaa without spyware, you're still suceptible to other virii by the files you get. My favorite p2p at the moment is eMule. All p2p apps are generally shit though.

If anything's shit it's emule.Slow and painful. The only p2ps worth bothering with are DC++ and BT. Kazaa Lite too , when you need that quick music video or MP3.

Well of course BT/DC are great, I didn't think of those. Bit Tornado IMO is the best BT client, and BCDC++ is the best DC.

WinMX is haven for RIAA Zombie servers. Most of their recent filings are from ppl who use WinMX. They are now infiltrating Edonkey.
Thank god I don't download music anymore, just anime/porn and the occasional DC game, like Half LIfe.

hmmmmm well i use myself a spyware free version of kazaa and am a former VIP hubber (now just a normal hubber) on the depeche mode hub because i was very angry against the gay hating OP igbandy (yes he is the person who hates gays and i showed him this site :angry ) :smt067 igbandy (die sucker :smt071 )
but other than that i use Bittorent a lot (Bittornado rocks)
and uses still the DM hub because i am a DM fan.
and cares about the girl hubbers there :-)
and some of the hubbers are great mates too :-) but igbandy can go to the deepest hole and stay there.
but if you want links to spyware free versions of p2pīs i am the man ;-)
p.s. i just hope that Kyuusaku will forgive me for saying that i am a user of the p2p programs
but decided to stop being a pirate except when it comes to abandonware
Kyuusaku: mates ? :-)

Yeah BitTornaso is great, the best client. Haven't tried BCDC++ - how is it different form dc++? Does it allow multiple conenctions?

It doesn't support multiple connections but it does support upload limiting. You can always copy the program to a seperate directory and run a second copy from there. (Twice the sys resources, ouch)
There was a time when IRC was great... I think IRC lost its soul at LEAST two years ago when Dalnet went haywire.

Heh, I remember that. Things were up and running nicely one day, the next, boom, no Dalnet. Period. I remember having to hunt through EFnet, IRCnet, and Undernet trying to find the next iterations of all the channels I used to visit... What was the cause of that big crash, anyways?

I don't remember but but I lost lots of people that week :( Some of them never came back and haven't talked with them since. Last year sometime, I spend a few days scouring IRC servers for some neat channels but I really couldn't find anything quality, so I just gave up on IRC.

WinMX is great. far better than Kazza. I used to use Kazza but got so fed up not being able to get what I wanted. I can't understand why some of you are slagging WinMX. Everything I want I can get on WinMX. True I have to type in Japanese sometimes but I can find EVERY song I've ever wanted in English or Japanese. Most of the time I get an avarage of 50kbps each file. Sometimes if I'm getting a video file that can take a a few hours but in that case I just leave the PC on all night. The only downside to WinMX is that it eats up memory. So after using it for quite some time you may need to reset your PC.
If you are after Japanese stuff then WinMX is the one for you since almost all the Japanese people I know use it.

Dude the land of milk and honey is in binary usenet groups :smt045

Hehe Hotline, I used that from 1998-2000. I stopped as soon as Paypal became popular, everyone wanted you to pay for access to their shitty server... gimme a break.
Usenet groups are great too. I use Newsbinpro and Powergrab :)

I don't use p2p software other than for music. For those times, I have a hacked (apparently) version of Kazaa Lite.
