Look out ipod, Nintendo is aiming at you!
The ubiquitous DS may soon be getting more functionality, but right now the announcement is for Japan only.

Over the weekend Japanese newspapers, including the Nikkei Net, reported that Nintendo is planning to release an upgraded version of its popular DS handheld in Japan. The new model is expected to feature a built-in camera, music playback functionality, and an improved Wi-Fi antenna.
The Nikkei report specified that this new DS would cost under 20,000 yen (around $189), which is only about $20 dollars more that the current DS. At this point it's not clear if this new model will also make its way overseas eventually, but it is slated to hit store shelves in Japan before 2008 comes to a close.
With a big Nintendo press conference expected later in the week, we're hopeful to get more information (and pictures) soon.
