Neo Geo Controller +5v

I've read that the old neo controllers don't require +5v but the new ones do, however I'm not sure if theyre referring to "new" as in the pads, or the new style of arcade controller.

Could someone clarify this please?

I think the newer Neo Sticks require it, the ones that have some red or orange buttons, and also the Neo CD bean style gamepads. The original Black stick with the curving button row doesn't need it. But I'm only 100% sure about the gamepads. Just pretty confident the new style sticks need it too.

That is pretty clear that only the original sticks work without the +5v.
