If you want to use a PC power supply, you can buy a cable that you attach to the 20pin atx connector, and just plug it into the xbox. It should draw enough power out to be able to use the dev kit.

http://www.divineo.com/cgi-bin/div-us/zz-36-psu

If you want an official one...the check ebay, they pop up every once in a while.

That really wouldn't be a good idea seeing as 360 dev units are only supposed to be licensed out to game dev companies, not individuals

Also if you want to use a regular 360 power supply you need to disconnect the sidecar.

reminds me of the time I emailed nintendo demanding some answers regarding my GDEV. They kindly prompted me to warioworld and even gave me phone numbers and e-mail addresses. Lovely bunch those folks =)

you would hope that is the standard answer and not the truth because if the people that are suppose to be helping us do not kno the different models that is just wrong.

devkits won't be on their script.

devkit support is handled by someone else & you don't have their number.

I'll give the email address! It will be easier to get the transcript, too.

I really, truly hope you are joking and have no intention of calling MS!

Your best bet is attempting to A) Repair the PSU yourself or B) obtain a second-hand one on eBay or various sites (such as AG).

Calling them will only result in you having the item confiscated.

But if he had the written agreement, he would also have the telephone number and email address to contact MS with......

In those instances I seriously doubt the query would be posted on AG ;-)

^ Nice one :)

...I did a similar thing to enable a GBOX to run. Just shows there's more than one way of cracking a nut than just using a big hammer ;)

It doesn't really matter if the PSU is over what the xbox needs. The xbox just uses what it needs, just like a computer that has a 550W PSU when it needs only 350W.

It depends on what revision it is as Microsoft in the later versions to make them more realiable started to fill them with heat transfer compound, used glue guns and epoxy resin to hold components down and generally made the power supply a mess. I've tried to repair two power supplies that have the no power light fault and gave up, firstly removing the 4 screws was easy, but cracking the top open was a bit trickier as the heat transfer compound was effectively acting as glue and I got it open in the end but not without damaging the side of the PSU. Also checking the fuse that is near the power socket revealed that the fuse was 100% and not blown so lead me to believe it was something else and switch mode PSUs are a pain to try and diagnose let alone fix and with the amount of glue and crap holding it together it was likely that I would end up breaking other parts. I'll put up a photo soon.
