ASSEMbler:
Name: Kevin O
Origin: United States
Gamer/collector.A bit burned out by now (like most older collectors)
but I still try to find a few minutes a day get my gaming on.
Own most of the items on the site. Working like a madman on become fithy rich as compared to normal rich.
Would move to Japan but refuse to do the normal crap/starvation work that is english teaching. So the plan is to have a company here and live there on the profits.
Age: Most would say I should be married by now, but to that I reply with the words of the esteemed scholar confucious: "Fuck Dat"
Place of residence: NYC/NJ area. New York is a great place to live when it's not burning / exploding. Born in the bronx.
Career: Retail Management. Ah, glorious retail slavery. That is until my Radiology degree is achieved. Then I'll live like a capitalist pig.
Wholesale buyout and usually shady pawnshop buyouts.
Currently need to get rid of 100 sega genesis units and 40 dreamcasts....
Recent History:
Founded assembler back in 1995 as a BSS running wildcat.
Run several game rooms @ anime conventions on east coast USA and head two companies involved in event promotion and games events.
Always happy to talk to gamers.

Your career / education: Attending College
How did you find ASSEMbler?:
I found ASSEMbler while doing some major videogame research several years ago. I knew about ASSEMbler for quite some time and used it as a resource, but I had no idea the forums existed until one day I saw it up there. I checked it out, lurked for a bit, and decided to join.
Main interests / a little about myself:
Well, of course I am a gamer/collector. I'm mainly a console collector, and I've become somewhat of an A'can Enthusiast. My favorite game of all time has to be Terranigma on the SNES, and my favorite game series is the Metal Slug series. My interests include cute girls, mountain biking, hacky sack, skateboarding, and video games. Oh, and I live in Arkansas.
Well, that's pretty much it.

Found ASSEMbler - Searching for Biohazard 1.5 and stumbling accross the BH2 beta thread on the old boards....
Pictures Below are old as hell. Like, I was 13 at the time. And yes, I am aware I look like a tool in the picture ^_^ I look about the same now, just fatter and with longer hair (at my ass these days :))

Madhatter256:
Name: Anthony O
Origin: PUERRRRTO RRRICO!!!!
Gamer/collector (SHORT BIO)/seller: I've been a gamer since.... 5years old. Well My first sytsem was an NES but the power cord was cut as punishment. 1994, I was given a Sega Genesis as an X-Mas present. That system got me back into the gaming scene but I was still to young for it and my parents used it as a tool for me to do things around the house lol. A few years later, I got a 32x, then an N64. 2000, I got my first PSOne. THIS is the system that got me into collecting games. I started to buy PSX games of all kinds. I own the very popular Squaresoft games and then Working Design games. Currently, my PSX game collection is the bigges out of all other systems I own. My first "collectible" game/console would have to be a Sega Saturn. I bought one for $50 and included 5 games, I now own about 7 Saturn games. If that isn't considered collectible, which probably isn't ;), then my M2 FZ-35s system is. Since then, I've been waiting for the perfect collectible that none of you guys have but I'll own and I got it cheap :), SNES Model 2 probably counts as that :).
Age: 19. and like Assembler, I probably won't get married because I really don't want to. I have many ambitions and a single woman can't fulfill most of them.
Place of residence: Orlando, FLorida. Home of Mickey Mouse, humidity, mosquitoes, rednecks, heat, rain, lightning, and dumbass drivers.
Career: Currently working at a Super Market chain, called Publix. I work at their Deli, slicing meats, make subs and cook chicken (not yet but will ugh). I make an ok $7.5/hour since my main career is a College Student. I used to work at Disney.
How I found out about Assembler: I found out about it through gamefaqs. At first I only visited and drooled by just looking at what Assembler has. It wasn't until last year was when I started to post on the forums and started to get involved. Thank you Assembler for giving me a new addiction.
Recent History:
Made my first online sale thru this website and I plan to sell even more things if my collection survives this hurricane.
Got my first car for free, so far I put about $2000 into it for repairs.
Goals:
Unlike Assembler, I have a good feeling I can strike it rich in the gaming industry since I know people in it and I have a good idea for a technology that will revolutionize the gaming industry for better or for worse, so as long as I get filthy rich, and the RIAA will help me get rich (hint). If that doesn't work out I'll open up my own videogame store/PC store/PC builder/ LAN game center as an all in one place. Make good money in that type of business I tell ya. If none that goes well, I'll go back to college and get a business degree or maybe degree in Accounting.

Wholesale buyout and usually shady pawnshop buyouts.
Be careful. According to my sources. Some pawnshops will be set up as decoy for something I can't tell you. Be smart and stay away from them.

09-04-2004, 02:08 AM
Johnny:
Name: Rafael Coelho
Origin: Brazil
Gamer/Collector: Well, as far as i know, i'm a gamer since i was born. I have vague memories of playing an Pong clone, an Odyssey, and then the Atari 2600 when my older brother got one. I really become addicted to it, when i got my Master System (and my brother a MSX). I manage to have lots of Master System games, more than 50 if i'm not mistaken. I don't own it anymore, which is a shame, but i have a list with the games i used to have plus the accessories. Anyway, had a quick trip trought Mega Drive and Super Nintendo, then PS1 and the rest you already now.
Another good point. I really REALLY like arcades. I like them since i entered the first one, when i first played Pole Position. Too bad arcade business is slowly dying in US / Europe / Japan. In Brazil every mall has at least one big arcade, and there's one 5 minutes away from college. It's HotZone at BarraShopping. I go there at least once a week. Sometimes i don't even play (lack of time), but i just love the noise and the lights sparkling. By the way, can someone help me to use that MAME 3D Arcade frontend? It's easy to build an arcade as you wish?
Age: I'm 23. Actually i don't look like i have that age (that's a good thing). Not married yet. Me and my girlfriend are together for almost 2 years, but now she's freaking me about every thing, so we are kinda separated for some time.
Place of residence: Rio de Janeiro, RJ. It's a great place to live, although some places of the city are violent. Anyway, where i live is actually calm, and near the Nelson Piquet International Raceway (where i go to watch races and quarter mile competitions) and the beaches of Barra.
Education: I'm at the 6th semester of college (of 8 or 9, it will depend). My major is Informática (in english that would be Computer Science), but with enphasys on System Analysis.
Career: I'm working at TELEMAR for quite some time now. I started as Junior System Analist, but nowadays i'm more like a Systems Builder (if that's how you call in English). I work with more 20 people (no, i'm not their manager), making telecomunications projects to newer facilities and buildings (fiber optics and stuff like that). Planning the costs, how they would be implemented, if it's viable,... You know, projects...
Still my boss makes me go to check the dev. people. Some guys already hate me because i always end up spotting their programming mistakes. I'm not a good programmer at all, but some mistakes are really bizarre.
I just wish i had a better salary. It pays my bills (college, car,...), and some of it goes to long time investiments. The rest i use to go out (pubs, cinema,...) and when it's enough, for games.
Sometimes i do some free-lance jobs for friends, like setting up their network and basic things like that.
How you found ASSEMbler: I really don't remember, but i'm glad i did. All people i met here are great friends that i usually talk daily. I've been posting since the first time i came across the site. I still remember reading all info of the rare systems for the first time.
PS: Hey Kevin, if you need to get rid of a Dreamcast, send me one for free. Working, with cables and one controller. I'll be forever thankful :smt023 Just joking

Name: Eric
Origin: South Carolina, USA (currently in North Carolina)
Gamer/Collector: I bought my first console (PSOne) two years ago for $25. I've been into videogames since I was five, but my parents never wanted a console in the house (now I have at least six :smt045 ). I'm more into the older systems (Super Nintendo, Sega Genesis, up through Playstation, Dreamcast, and the Saturn), although I do own an Xbox (thanks to Sony for shitty PS2 lasers [I sold my PS2 to buy an Xbox]) and am planning on buying a Gamecube soon.
Age: 17
Residency: North Carolina, USA
Education: Sleeping through high school (not literally, but it IS boring)
Job: I work as a tech support guy (don't know the exact name) for a company here
How I found ASSEMbler: I believe I was looking for information on the Sega Neptune when I ran across this site. I lurked on the board for about half a year, and then started guest posting in late 2002. I finally registered about a month before the forums moved :smt067 .

Origin: Rochdale, England, UK
Age: 20 (21 in December YAY!)
Career / Education: Not very employable for multiple reasons. Could have got A*'s in all my exams but had an operation at the time. Went to a University when I was 16 but it sucked ass so I never went back. I was allways gifted & creative but nothing ever challenged me - I spent the last 2 years at school working out of a store room because I would do all my work fast then boredom would set in, I started talking + general schoolboy messing about etc hence I ended up in there :S .
I found assembler through a link on Yakumo's site on Segagagadomain.com about a year ago. I spent about 3 -4 months stalking before I bothered to register/post

How you found ASSEMbler:I forgot exactly how, i think i was on a site about prototypes or something like that and there was a link for assembler or possibly another way (its been a long time since then) however mostly got into the site for its amazing pages on rare things and protos, however only joined the board when updates on assembler began to slow down(checked it out as it seemed the site was not to be updated again at that point) which was when assembler was still on ezboard.

Gamer: Old skool roots , but I won't turn up my nose at newer games unless they are all flash and flair and no substance (see also 97% of XBox games). Have a weakness for strategy RPGs, shmups, fighters, and anything weird and distinctly Japanese (Ore No Ryouri, Samba De Amigo, etc.)
Career: Hotel bellhop for one more week, then back to full time student, Art Major with emphasis on Digital Media/Animation, Printmaking Minor. Thinking of going for business loans and trying to open a used gamestore in this town that could sadly use one.
Found ASSEMbler: About three years back, looking for information on development/debug PSX units. Found the forums about 2 years ago, lurked for a bit, and then decided to join. This has been my most-used (and only) message board for the whole duration of the time.
Languages: (As it seems many others do two or more) English, 2 years of Japanese and counting, a smattering of Spanish learned from the housekeeping staff at work :smt043
Expertise: Well, I'd like to think I'm getting reasonably knowledgeable about the N64, but probably not.
And yet another goofy picture:

I love gaming in general, but especially the development part of it. My all-time favoritve is still punch-out on the nes, but my small but nice DC collection is my reael beauty.
Here's a pic from me with some hot ladies from the Games Convention in Leipzig.

State how you found ASSEMbler: looking at an ebay auction for a dc dev unit, it gave 'assembler' as credit for the pictures. so i checked the site out and was floored buy the collection. looked in on the boards for close to a year and finally joined recently.
mini gaming blog: didnt really get into gaming until after highschool, i had a SMS, then an SNES (skipped genesis, what a mistake that was). bought a psx shortly after launch, but only owned the gran turisimos and doom. bought my first pc at 20, but only used it for AIM and porn.
that all changed 3 years ago, when my buddy introduced me to halo. i immediately bought an xbox. after building a small collection, i noticed my favorites were sega games (Jet set radio future, sega gt, panzer dragoon orta, shenmue ii) so seeing used dcs advertised at 20 bucks, i went to pick one up. and of coarse i needed some games to play, and saw most were running at 10 dollars or less! i spent the $50 i had in my pocket, and must have walked out with 7 games! at that point i knew this was the system for the tightwad, like myself!
i soon after conned a friend out of his saturn. such is the beginning of a sega whore.
and heres my collection, in print form.

Name: Paul (last name is the same as a country -- former super power)
Country: From Texas, lived in Japan since early 1998. Moving to Hawaii in mere weeks. I can practically taste the sand.
Age: 29
Career & Education: Was a double major (Japanese and Business) until I actually had to get into the UT Business School to say that. Reasons such as switching schools, and at one point my grades, saw to it that businses school wasn't going to happen. I stuckwith the Japanese major, and got an Asian Studies minor (required). Japanese, is basically the only thing I can say I'm good at, although I could be better. I quit studying about 5 years ago, and just started reading magazines and shit.
Game-wise, I'm old school. Although I didn't play much from high school 'til my last 2 years of college, which I played some PC and Sega Saturn. Stopped playing altogether at that ponit. Moved to Japan, and had a bad habit of spending all my money in clubs and in record stores (yes, vinyl). DJing, while good fun, locks you into a world of partying and materialism. Some people can seperate the hobby from the rather young subculture that accompanies it -- I cannot.
I quickly realized that most people are retarded when it comes to computers, bought a book on NT-Server, read it, and got an IT job. Was still short on cash as my job was definitely entry-level, so became one of (if not THE) guy that popularized selling games from Japan. The only other guy on Ebay at the time with a direct connect was selling from the states. So, I guess I'm a pioneer in some ways. At this point, I made my re-entry into the gaming world, in a rather large way. Started www.classicgaming.com/japangaming as a way to give people an idea of what they were buying. After I quit selling games, JG became a romping ground for me to play w/ CGI programming, and is now, just a pretty cool site.
State how you found ASSEMbler: I think it was pointed out to me by someone I used to sell games to or something. I saw it ages ago (not long after Japanese Gaming got off the ground). I didn't stumble into the forums until about a year or so ago though, if even that long.

How I found ASSEMbler: I wish I could remember when, but I remember coming to this site for a long time.
My first reactions when I found the site were something like: "What system is this?" "Oohh I never heard about that one" "WTF is that?"
I was a regular lurker of the old forums, lots of cool people here!
I ended up registering and altough I check the forums on a daily basis I dont really post much.
Its getting pretty hard to get anything game related in these parts let alone protos and stuff like that so thats why I dont really post much I guess....
Ill try to get some nice pics of my humble colletion once i get my bedroom a bit more 'presentable', it looks more like a storage/junkyard with a bed then a bedroom atm.
Gaming history: My father and my cousins all had Sinclair Spectrum computers so the first videogames I played were on the Spectrum along with some other games I played at the few arcades I was allowed in!
However I only started to really enjoy videogames when I got to play Moonwalker at an arcade, I fell in love with the game the first time I played it, and thats how it all began, I have been an addict ever since!
Shortly after discovering Moonwalker my parents got me a Megadrive, and I eventually bought all the other Sega consoles that were released here. I never really liked Nintendo , there was just something magic about SEGA!!
At some point I started collecting all the consoles and games that I could get my hands on here in Portugal, I also have a small colection of computers (Sinclair Spectrums, Timex, Atari ST, Amiga, lots of PC's)
To complete the circle all that I was missing was the game that started it all for me, so I got a Moonwalker PCB, and now im an acomplished gamer!!

Hello all you people at assembler, let me introduce myself...
Full name: Juul Coolen
Country: The Netherlands
Age: 19 already :smt033
Career / eduction: At the moment doing a IT study at the university and in the weekends working in my parents' shop
Short personal history of computer gaming:
On my 7th birthday I got a gameboy with tetris from my aunt. 2 years later (again on my birthday) my parents gave me a megadrive with Sonic 2 included (that game was so great, especially the 'tunnel' bonus level!). In the same period my cousin (SEGA fan also) bought himself a Saturn (lucky bastard he was :smt009 ), but fortunately I could borrow it once a while. Later I bought a Playstation, but never a Saturn. I never regretted, because of the simple fact the Playstation was much more popular at that time and the Saturn was nor dead nor alive. The same goes for the Dreamcast, which was overshadowed by the Playstation 2. Nonetheless the Saturn and Dreamcast became of nostalgic value, that's why I am collecting them now :smt043
Favorite systems: Saturn (of great nostalgic value for me) and Dreamcast (of course ;-) ) but I also like the Playstation (2), because of the huge amount / variety of games.
Favorite games: Final Fantasy VII and X, Pro Evo aka Winning Eleven (playing the series non-stop for years now) and Sega games in general, especially Sega Rally (played the desert track for weeks, but wasn't able to break my cousin's record :smt022 ), Pete Sampras Tennis (old skool genesis / megadrive stuff indeed!), Virtua Tennis and last but not least Shenmue.
How I found ASSEMbler: through the Dutch Sega community / message board segaforum.nl, where someone mentioned it. However I visited assembler once, by accident, over a year ago, I registered not until yesterday.
That's it in a nutshell...
Just ask me if you wanna know something more

How's your area for retro-shopping? Found anything worthwile?
Unfortunately not many shops with retro stuff around. There is a "Replay" gameshop in Weert and in Nijmegen, but they don't have that much. A couple of regular dreamcast games, but the shop in Weert also has some second hand saturn, megadrive and N64 games, but again nothing special.
I get most of my stuff from eBay, some online shops (those that are left) and these kind of boards.

State how you found ASSEMbler : I was looking for unreleased titles on the DC and stumbled across ASSEMbler :smt023 I'm hooked already, I’ve learnt loads and probably be askin lots of questions so be ready with those answers ;-)
Game History: It all started with a C64 then onto an Amiga 600 before I saw the light and moved to consoles :-D I purchased a NES to start with (which I still have totally MIB!) but soon upgraded to the mighty SNES :smt083 I had this for a number of years and amassed a HUGE collection of games BUT like a fool sold them to get a N64 and PS1. (Which again I still have MIB ) The next was a Dreamcast which is still my favourite console today, well apart from the controller lol Anyway after that came a very short meeting with a :smt067 PS2, sorry but I don't like them, not as good as the DC imo! Then I decided to get an NTSC SNES which I then sold due to it being two tone yellow, so then I bought another slightly better but with the same problem, so this is now sold, so I’m currently on the lookout for a MIB SNES (at the right price).
Oh and I just bought a new crystal Xbox with the hope that Shenmue 3 will get a release LOL LOL :smt043
I’m not a hardcore collector as I can't afford to be, but I do spend what I can on some of the more obscure games and perphiarls, unfortunatly I usually end up selling them again due to lack of cash ;-)
I think thats about it..........

How I found this webpage: DCH Forums (same as cos2k3!)
Well, I like games of all types, on all platforms. Got into gaming around the SNES time; haven't really stopped since. Don't have a big collection at all, as I sold much of it (it wasn't that big anyway), but I hope to slowly grow it out a bit. Just got interested in modding, which has yet so far proved to be interesting. ;-)
Anywho, these forums looked pretty cool, so I decided to join up and participate in some gaming discussions. Don't know that much about dev gear/protos, but I'd love to learn.
And if anyone has a proto cart of Donkey Kong Country 1, 2 or 3, I'd be interested. :-)

Age: 19
Occupation: 2nd year doing a B.Sc. (a degree) in IT & Telecommunications. Basically it's programming stuck together with looking at the pretty lines on oscilloscopes and trying to blow up capacitors :smt023
How I found ASSEMbler: The site was shown in some UK games magazine a few years, but I can't remember which one! It used to be mentioned on the index page - anyone remember? Was it Arcade or Edge, or what? Anyway, I thought the site was pretty much dead... then I noticed the forums last week!
I first got into gaming when I was living in Saudi back in the early 90's, and my parents got a 386 PC (which was bitchin'... at the time). We got many many games (games were dirt cheap over there because EVERYTHING was pirated! I'm pretty sure I even had a bootleg Casio calculator!), like Monkey Island, Dungeon Master, Bomberman and so on. I also had friends there who had a Famicom (also brimming with pirated games), which I probably played *too* much.
Then I got a Game Gear in 1994 (but had no decent games), a Mega Drive in 1995, a PlayStation in '97, a ZX Spectrum and a BBC Micro in '98, a NES, a C64C, an SMS and a Pong clone in 1999, a GBA in 2000(?), and a PS2 in 2002. I'd like to be a proper collector, but that would mean I'd have to get a job -_-
For now, most the games I play - and you may want to kill me for saying this - are on emulators. I got to re-live the days of the FC (I nearly exploded with nostalgia when I heard the P.O.W. BGM again after about 10 years!) and MD, and got to discover so much stuff I may have never known about before, like the MSX, PC-Engine, most SNES games, the greatness of the likes of Treasure, Konami and Cave.
My secret shame is probably my track record with RPGs: I must have started playing about 20 of them by now, from Pokemon to Ys II, but I've only ever finished one - Final Fantasy VIII on the PS. I remember that VERY LONG Friday night I finally finished it after 2 years of pain. Let's just say my brother was getting up for work when I finally beat that whore.
I'm currently also the president of the University of Limerick Games Society, which originally was RPGs-only (the old-skool manual RPGs), but in more recent times (and through acquiring assets of other dead societies) has diversified into LAN Parties and paintball. And now me and my lackeys are trying to put an emphasis on "retro" gaming (because "retro" sounds cool). We have a website (www.gsoc.net), but it's mainly just us talking shite and being angry on the forums.
OK, this is too long so I'll stop now!

Oh that sounds way nicer than what I'm doing - that's mostly looking at boring lectures about theoretical programmability of finite automata to recognize non-regular languages (or the impossibility thereof), with a little bit of programming thrown in :smt009
Zilog Jones
11-19-2004, 05:46 AM
My course isn't that great either. I have some of the most boring lecturers IN THE WORLD, I have THREE YEARS of maths, for the first year, instead of doing a *real* programming language they made us do Turbo Pascal (the only possible situation I could find that useful is if I have to travel back in time to 1989) - only now am I doing C... but note the lack of a ++ after that.
There's also the problem that the college really want to give everyone 6 modules each semester, so to fill up the gaps they make us do generic crap (most of which we already did in secondary school Physics) like Engineering Science and General Physics - both pretty useless for my course. And now we're doing "Introduction to Industrial Engineering", which SOMEHOW translates to "Basic Economics and Making Charts in Excel".
Though I suppose I'm lucky we don't really have to do any theory crap - your course sounds a lot like Comp. Sys. here, where I've heard horror stories about Programming Logic Theory (I know at least 4 people who couldn't graduate this summer because of that!) and COBOL - eww!

I'm really more of a hardware collector, so if you look at my collection it's like 80% hardware and 20% games, but that's not to say that I don't play games. Right now I'm on a kick to get every Mario title ever released in Japan and the assorted systems they play on (which will mean finally signing my soul over to Satan and allowing a Virtual Boy into my home).
I had sold a bunch of stuff last year to fund my assorted car parts purchases, and I now regret it. Among the lost were my CDX, AV Famicom, SFC Jr., Saturn, JP GBA, and seemingly a million precious Namco limited edition boxes (i.e. R4 w/Jogcon). Yes, I know, I'm a retard.

Hey, the inability to code hasnt stopped most people here from collecting dev stuff... few people actually use it.

sorry if i am an idiot, but who is he?
well the demoscene is maybe not so famous in USA (no offence sir)
but farbroush and others has made graphic demos and used mod music
an explanation of a graphic demo is here
http://www.theparty.dk/pages/scene/what_is_a_demo.html
what is a mod file ?
here is the best explanation to that
Tracker Formats
Tracker file formats contain both the musical score information as well as the actual instrument sound samples that are used to play a tracker song. This type of format originated with the MOD file format on the Amiga computer which had hardware that was capable of playing 4 channels of digital audio simultaneously. This capability was ahead of it's time and had a great influence on the original structure and four track limitation of the MOD format. At that time, the average PC's audio device, the PC speaker, couldn't produce quality audio output beyond simple tones and beeps. As PC audio technology advanced with the introduction of the first popular sound cards, this file format began getting used in the PC world which slowly became the most popular platform for this file format (also greatly due to the discontinued production of the Amiga computer). As technology on the PC advanced further, the MOD file format grew to accomidate higher sampling rates, increased sample sizes and more channels/tracks. Before some of it's earlier limitations were overcome, a huge number of "MOD-like" file formats were created to accomidate new programs that offered features beyond the scope of the MOD format. These include Scream Tracker's STM and S3M, Fast Tracker 2's IT and Composer 669's 669 formats, to mention a few popular ones. This explosion of new file formats created by this new class of music composition tools gave birth the Tracker Format category.

Your approximate age: 19.
Your career / education: Finished Sixth Form a few years ago... should probably get myself into universite, but got stuck earning money at a job and never really managed to put that aside.
State how you found ASSEMbler: Stumbled across the place a few times over the past few years looking for info on harder-to-find games, finally decided to sign up a week or so ago.
Gamer/Collector: Long time Sega fan since the SMS days, back when I was too young to really hold a control pad... format bias died over time like with most of us mind you.
I'm not as into games as I used to be, I must admit... I go in and out of it now and again, but I think with a lot of us, once we actually have the money to buy all the gaming shit we once dreamed of owning, it all tends to die down...
Still a huge Saturn fanatic mind you, and also enjoy collecting RPG's and anime games. So in a nutshell, anything old_school, anything Sega from any era, anime, RPG... and even anything Nintendo, though given their genius decision to package all their games in cardboard boxes, I never picked up the mammoth task of collecting Nintendo goods!
Oh, also interested in modchips and backup units somewhat.
I suppose my interests generally fall in line with the interests of you guys... I mainly registered because a lot of people here seemd to be on the same wavelength as me,
In terms of gaming collecting, I'm one of those people who dreams of having huge import Saturn and PCE collections full of random anime games and other shit which I'd probably never play anyway.
...which reminds me, yeah, into anime too.

No, but that's a good enough guess to merit revealing it...
my empath goes out to Tachikoma, as since the age of 6 I have gone by my middle name... Lynn. This is mainly because I share my first name with entirely too many other people, several of which are in my own immediate family. Ironically, the only other males named Lynn that I've ever heard of (aside from the infamous Mr. Belveder of course) were both sports/news/weather casters, something that all the public figures I've ever shared a last name with seem to have in common too. And, I have virtually zero interest in any of those things, so I should probably just change my name to "The Person Formerly Know As An Unpronouncable Symbol" or Stinkblossom or something. :-D

Hi, I wasn't gonna post here but it seemed a bit rude no to, heh.
Age - latter half of 20s :smt022
I really am not enjoyning getting old, especially since it seems I have failed to amass the fortune I dreamed of as a kid.
How I found this place : Googling some systems a long while back, lurked here and there.
Gaming history - I don't collect dev gear like so many of you here (I'll grab my coat then) although the shit is extremely fascinating. Had a couple of mates who worked at one or 2 interesting places but sadly no dev gear for moi.
Got hooked on coin-ops real young, purchased Spectrum 48k+, loved it (although looking back I should've got the c64). Went through a lot of systems and games up to Dreamcast, the death of which pissed me off.
Best designed console in my eyes - original PC Engine - so nice.
Favourite gaming times - 1: Megadrive/Snes/Pc Engine Era. 2: Dreamcast. 3: All those arcades as a kid in local dodgy spots - yes let's travel to the worst part of town to play SF2 for 10p a credit, risking life threatening injuries whilst man in corner sells exotic powdered goods to zombie looking people.
Fave game music ever - Yuzo Koshiro's MD stuff and anything by Technosoft on MD.

Commodore??? Pah! You made a good choice ;-)

Thanks for the welcome, I am impressed you learned to type with that crappy keyboard, although it was an improvement on the rubber key version. For a second I thought you meant the rubber key speccy and I was kind of shocked thinking you should get some kind of medal or something.
I think I must've spent a small fortune on Spectrum games, I know everybody was pirating it like mad but I was too young and innocent.
Hmm the c64 had the better sound chip (plus tv speaker output - not on speccy till later), and more colours but I suppose the UK was a Sinclair loving nation. Wish I'd spent more time on the typing tutor and sprite editor than on Feud :-D.

I've thought about collecting, but unfortunately, my current finances somewhat prohibit such activities. (I think the rarest things I have are an original pressing copy of FFT (don't ask how I got it) and a US copy of Faselei! How i got to ASSEMBLER
I was a 100% "professional" gamer up to the day i got my first beer in hand. My last console was one of those misundrerrated and misundrestooded N64. I still bear interests in emulation, tho (ynt.darkmazda.com), and for that reason i have been looking for ages for a valuable U64 dev kit, which finally made me stumble on ASSEMBlER.
Is that enough?

Hi everyone I thought I'd do a little introduction seen as though I have just registered. I've been playing games since I was about 8 and have always been die hard sega through and through. My fave genre is racing games. Sega Rally is the best game ever, the Saturn is the best console ever - there can be no arguments about that in my eyes ;)
Currently own about 100 games mainly across Saturn, Dreamcast and Xbox. Keep eyeing up Megadrives when I go past gamestation but I literally have no room for any more consoles.

Well i found this place whiel trying to find out about Dev Kits, I think at the time i was looking for the Cube NR info or a PS2 Debugger/TesT machine.
Overall i can say i am well chuffed i found this place. I am not into this programming myself but liek to be able to go to places and see/read peoples info, manily poeple who know.
This seems like a good place to browse and see what kit if for sale. I would (who woudl not) liek to get a few peices of RARE kit in the front room, i am sure it will never happen.
Interests briefly are, Film, Games and Music.
Film wise i am very much into all cinema, forign and the types of films that push boundaries and challenge your thinking. I am not a great fan of hollywood mass production but liek most people sometimes liek some mindless film that hits the right spot. Films currenly springin to mind - Leon - being john malkovich - le haine (sorry if that is spealt wrong (french film)) - Hong Kong cinima in general, not just the block busters breaking through at the moment but some of the more unkown films as well. I am pleased i saw thee version of the Grudge (aka Ring) and another the name escapes me (must have been a good film then,,, oh yeah Ju-on, AMAZING.
Games wise, well i am a bit old skool, i used to work at a toy store, playing games for a living. Snes was the console that sticks in my mind. I liek odl style platform games. I remeber titles liek MS Pshyco Fox, MD was clearly Sonic ALL and Snes was MArio, cool spot, donkey country and the other titles in the series.
I did not go for the PSone for a long time until it came out, again with the PS2, XboX and Cube. I went and got them all one weekend, treating myself in a mega stylie. One console i never purchased (Well there were a few sega ones) that perhaps i shoudl was the Dreamcast. Ocasionally i still look on Ebay to see if there is a bargin that suits me.
I often get orn between, do i spend the money and build up a retro section in my front room or do i emu what i can? choices choices, oh yeah and money, emu it often is!
Music, well as a bedroom DJ i have some nice kit but never properly use it. Just spent some dosh ready to try and start making music and laying down some tracks. SHould be fun. I am an old RAVER, not happy hardcore but proper RAVE. Also into Urban (all the Rap R&B genres) Trance, Chill and some Rock.
Damn i have typed alot. I will sign off for the time being but knwo i will be back soon with some questions and looking gneerally for adivice.
Cheers.....Q

I don't own this modem (I've tried to get it for years, to no avail, unfortunately) and everything in my mini-faq need to be VERIFIED!!!! Please help :)
TurboGrafx-16 Preservation Society (http://home.comcast.net/~turbografx-preservation-society/) - will launch in the next month or so. I, along with many turbo fans, are working on an ongoing project that collects all tg-16 / pc engine coverage in English-language magazines (primarily North America / UK... though if there were any Canadian / Australian mags out there I'd love to hear about them).
If you can provide corrections / additions to the sites above... PLEASE contact me. I totally appreciate any assistance you can offer :)

sometimes when you post your real name it is because people are not so afraid of sayng their real name, since they have nothing to fear .
and they have there freedom and no goverment there is looking over there shoulder when they post but most of the members (me included) are males except a few of the members are female and i think they won´t post here in the introduction thread because of the minority of females at this forum/message board/"BBS"
but i think we also have some members who won´t show there real name because they are living in a country where the goverment (like in China Brunei and other dictator ships) are looking over there shoulders.

>sometimes when you post your real name it is because people are not so afraid of sayng >their real name, since they have nothing to fear .
In Japan, many people don't want to show their real names even in the internet.
I myself don't want to show my real names, but the reason is not the government,in my opinion.
The cultural tradition in Japan affect Japanse mentality to become anonimous,I suppose.
So the most influential net-community in Japan is 2-channel where people seldom show their name,or even ID.
In Japan, the mojority of MassMedia(Magazine,Newspapers,TV program) were reported without signatures, although nowadays many signatures are found in these media.

Greets all!
Firstly, wow! Amazing website on all things obscure, and a rather nifty forum. I like it.
Name: John Szczepaniak
None of you may recognise me as the infamous designer of a homebrew DC title involving trampolines and guns. When I'm not wasting time on such frivolous (and unpaying activities), I am a hardworking freelance magazine writer. You may not have read my articles in GamesTM and Retro Gamer.
Hobbies: Videogames, as well as anything and everything obscure relating to them. Like I said, love the site, should fit right in. Though I admit fully to being something of a small time person with regards to these things. You won't find me showcasing anything exciting, though I do plan to watch everyone else do that. :)
The reasons for my importing and obscure tatses probably lies in the fact that being born in South Africa, I only had access to strange Famicom bootlegs, and import SFCs, NeoGeo's and Turbo Duos. Nothing officially sanctioned for us, thanks to some rather nice trades embargoes, hence my youth was spent playing cartridge hacks of FDS games on a PAL TV set. But that is a whole other story, worthy of a massive topic.
Age: Far too young. Seriously. I'd surprise you.
Country: Depends, I've lived in about 4 different countries in my lifetime, and travelled to over a dozen more. Take your pick.
How I found this place: a sneaky forumite at NTSC snuck into some links regarding some rarities at the main website. I then followed the biscuit trail to the forum.
erm... yeah. That's about it.

My name is William Moore. I will be 18 next February, live in Victoria, Australia, and currently go to TAFE. I've been playing video games ever since I got my Master System and started collecting them around 1998. I found this site looking for information about the Famicom, then I read the rest of the site and loved all the information and the funny remarks. I might post some pictures of my (small) collection and then will probably never post here again. I'm more of a lurker. Meh.
