my desk is super crappy and the monitor would probably crack the top of it. its wood painted chipboard. :angry

the old phone books are just using space- for when i get new mags. i cant stand to have them empty...

That pc in my room doesnt go on the internet. i use another one , but im gonna get some stuff to make it go on the internet.
the pc is under the desk and the monitor is in the closet. i dont close the door and go to "sites" like some of you may be thinking. :smt042

The WD ads you ripped off magazines, I DO THE EXACT SAME THING BUT WITH ARC THE LAD!! and dude, you have Lunar 1 and 2 strat guides, man you're the bomb.

Do you have Arc The Lad Watch, btw?

Mr. Casual
08-31-2004, 08:04 PM
i have Arc the lad stuff, too! its probably my favorite rpg for the psx. everyone gave it a bad review... :-(

i have the strategy guide for it (great by the way)
but i dont have the watch. :smt009

some people dont understand why i like that game. back in 10th grade i brought my arc the lad strategy guide to school to read and someone said "UGH!!! You know what this is?! its a video game cookbook, youre stupid for buying this!"
that guy was wrong because its not just a cookbook, its filled with hilarious quotes and i think the writer of it is the funniest guy ever.

workingdesigns is my favorite game company btw.

madhatter256
09-01-2004, 12:27 AM
Reserve it because a lot stores aren't carrying the Deluxe pack. The main Gamestop is carrying at the most, 45, and they have about 40 reserved already, and this is the "HQ" of Orlando I'm talking about. They don't expect to sell that much but whatever little amount they have, they will end up being sold out of.

Mr. Casual
09-07-2004, 07:45 PM
okay, i got mine reserved. that game is gonna rock.

p.s. are the working designs strategy guides rare or something?

madhatter256
09-07-2004, 11:27 PM
The Lunar 1 and 2 guides are VERY rare. I remember seeing one go for $120 once on ebay. I'm waiting for Arc the Lad strategy guide to get rare.

Mr. Casual
09-07-2004, 11:36 PM
?! VERY RARE!? thats friggin' awesome. i had rare stuff i didnt even think was rare...

i got one of them in gamestop and another from working designs.
total money spent 30 dollars. 60 if you count the arc the lad book.

p.s. is arc the lad 3 strategy guide out? i have never seen, or heard about it in a long time.

madhatter256

Actually, it was an actual GBA accessory and I beat and cut the SHIT out of it, so I could get the light and the electricity thing connected to it. Wouldnt be worth much anyway, since gba sp is out and gba accessories are a dime a dozen.

True, I don't acquire a buncha rare obscure (and not that fun) games, as I like to play the games in my collection. I bet 60-70% of the games are beat, but Im not sure...

Okay, I had to clear out my games outta my room so they wouldnt be destroyed. My Grandpa (on my Mom's side) visited and stayed a week last year and accidentally knocked over the games off of the shelves. He is around 90 and real slow and not too careful. He came over again, a few days ago, and I took the picture of my collection as a whole as of now.

Mr. Casual

I seldom pay full price for most games, unless they are made by WD and the price doesnt change, or goes up. I have paid full for a lot of my Xbox FPSs, though. But mainly I wait for them to go to the $20-$30 price range.

Man, I used to have my walls totally covered in posters, drawings, ad's, etc, and they all got trashed when I moved because my stepdad is the master of unlocking.

Dude, you have like every kickass game for the 32-Bit - current age. So freaking cool. And I like how you like PLAYING the games instead of hoarding them and blabbering about how there worth so much, I don't have a ton of games because I try to beat them before getting new ones, that and I'm pretty broke all the time, what with bills and only making 100$ a week...I really need a new job.

I think I own 200 (which for some reason a lot of people consider nothing) something games, not including ones that have been lost or stolen which is a lot, but I'm pretty sure I've beaten almost every game I own and all the Genesis/SNES/PSX game at the video rental place that was where I use to live (during the game age of genesis - 1999....making for about 400 games beaten total), it was 1$ to rent a game for 2 days, and for older systems it was .50. Small family owned places are the best. I wish I could go and pick up all those games I use to play but nooooo for some reason they cost a ton (when the hell did Suikoden cost so much??). I wouldn't mind dropping 60-70 on Lunar (probably my favorite RPG ever besides Xenogears) if I made more money (hopefully soon) but for now I'm pretty much stuck in the 15$ under range (Which is how much I think new games should cost...) Fortunatly, I'm pretty sure I've got a good job to do after this month, and my girl friend thing has a lot of the PlayStation gems (about 30 games or something and almost all of them are RPG's...apparently girls love those.)

Well yeah dude....It's nice to see a REAL game fan/player, it's been so long since I've seen one (until I joined this forum, everyone here rocks, even in an age where games are turning into mainstream schlock).

I should clean up my room and show off (haha) my crap.

I tried to mod it further and fucked it up. Its in the trash, now. I DO blabber on sometimes about how rare and expensive a game is, but I play them, too. I have a lot of cool 32 bit era games, but there are SOOOO much more that I want to get. Mainly for the Snes/nes era, but I still want MORE 32 bit games. BTW, I got Valkyrie Profile, and Im gonna play it!:D

Thanks guys for the comments.

damn people, stop looking at ebay for your games! you're missing incredible deals near you!

55 US bucks for VP is way too much and ridiculous. in fact, i doubt i would pay more than 25 bucks for this game. 10 bucks is a great deal, but not THE deal, imo anyway.

in a video club, they were selling their psone tittles, like 2 or 3 years ago. i don't know if the game was rented alot of times, but the cds are looking good. sure, there's some little scratches there and there, but it runs without any problems.

i didn't even know you could sell it over ebay for that price. i took it because i wanted a rpg, and because it would add to my psone rpg collection at the same time. :)

why this ridiculous price (55$) for that game anyway? is it that rare?

It got rare when Enix merged with Square and said they were going to stop distributing Enix games. So, If you got it before the merger, but a while after it was new (Maybe a period of 6 months or so), you could have gotten a decent price for it. Its worth a helluva lot o money, now. $100 Buy it now on Ebay, but it will go higher than that in bids to perhaps as high as $250. It is a very desirable game in these times.

BTW, PhreQuencYViii , Sorry havent played Riviera yet, but I love the boxart! I think I will like it, though.

cahaz
07-17-2005, 09:21 PM
ahh. don't remember if it was before or after the square and enix merge though. But i doubt my video club would have cared anyway, every psone tittles were 10 bucks.

but anyway, like i said in another thread, ebay is the worst place to buy games with even a bit of value, because that's were every collectors would search first, and it doesn't care if the seller don't know what he's selling, since it's an auction. there's not alot of people selling on ebay that doesn't know what they're selling by these days anyway.

PhreQuencYViii
07-17-2005, 09:32 PM
I heard Valkrie wasn't even that good, but I dunno since I've never played it.

Ebay sucks for the games that are supposedly "rare" and stuff since they price stuff so much, but I've gotten plenty of stuff of ebay for great prices, such as a ton of good CD's for 0.99-5.00$ and a lot of games (the most I've payed so far is 15$ for a boxed NES game, usually I pay 5-10$ and there not bad games or anything). It just depends on luck, I guess, but to some people like me, there's not many other places to look but the internet and Ebay for older games (EVERYWHERE is cleared out of anything older than PSX here, I swear...I've looked everywhere :( )

Mr. Casual
07-17-2005, 09:34 PM
Well, you have the priveldge of being in a "Video club" that sells stuff for cheap. For most people that arent in "clubs" like this, it is expensive in the wild, retail, and definitely Ebay if the person knows what it is. 2 or 3 years ago, MIGHT have gotten you Valkyrie Profile for $10, but you still wouldnt have known how valuable it would have been in the future. Its so rare, the infamous GH version is a worth a ton, too!!!

BTW, Phre, you have a game exchange nearby? They sell stuff for..pretty good deals sometimes. The older and rarer it is, though, its worth shitloads.

PhreQuencYViii

OOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOk

He bought a rented several times copy of VP 2 or 3 years ago for $10. No wonder. Thats not that hard to believe. Every game there, no matter the condition, was probably $10 just cause it was a rental. As far as I know, one dumb guy that didnt know what he had when he sold it to EB, had it and took pretty good care of it before me.

BTW, I take back the remark of the video club being a priveldge, since its not. It is just clearing out games to make room for others.

cahaz
07-17-2005, 10:05 PM
yep.
that's still 10 bucks right?

that's like when i buyed kof 00/01 at blockbuster for 10 bucks when it was released for about 5 months.i asked the guy why did they sold it after at that price only after 5 months on the shelf, he said that was because no one ever rented it.

and the video club i was talking about wasn't a blockbuster or anything, but an old one from a village next to my town, the same one i've buyed sealed nes games for 10 bucks (that's alot of 10 bucks in one thread... 0_o) and all remember? not alot of people goes there,
i assume the game was rented 4 or 5 times at max, since the game is in perfect condition, with 2 or 3 visible lines on it, like i said earlier, why would i complain?

and who said it was a privilege anyway?

PhreQuencYViii
07-17-2005, 10:20 PM
Yeah dude, buying from rental places is great because there (usually) in great condition and you can get rare expensive games for cheap, especially from small places. Although once I saw Suikoden 2 for 20$ at Hastings....shoulda picked it up.....but I had no idea it'd become so rare. There's one here, and this is a small town, but it's run by a bigger chain (movie gallery) and because of that they've already cleared out any older games they might have had. I didn't have good luck buying from there though...I got FF9 from there for 9 bucks, and the CD's weren't the best condition (still worked though, so no complaigns) and there was no manual.....but hey, I got the game at least.

Just 'cus it's cheap doesn't mean it's crap or anything. Everything can be had for cheap, just gotta look around. :smt023

Mr. Casual
07-17-2005, 11:28 PM
I dont like the idea of a bunch of people having a game before me, cause you know how people are. They rarely take care of the stuff, or some kid rents it and loses everything with it. I dont buy my games at our movie gallery, since its all crap titles, anyway.

that's still 10 bucks right?

Yes, BUT you bought it 2 or 3 years ago, before it was rare, AND you got it at a rental place. Good condition or not, we had to pay for ours out the wazoo because it was rare, and we have no choice, but to buy it for "ridiculous" amounts, because if this was on sale at this time at a rental store, it would be gone in a heartbeat. It is still $10, but I would be more impressed if you could say that during the last year or so. I was LUCKY to get my copy of VP, because the cashier said it came one hour earlier that day. Trust me when I say this game is RARE and it also is an investment as well.

Now that I know the time frame and the type of store you bought it in, it is more believable. However, don't criticize us for the price we pay for our games. We CHOOSE to pay that much because it is worth it to us. Or maybe I should put it like this, buy it for $40 at GameStop or $80+ on eBay? Tell me, which would you do if you had no other choice and you wanted to play this game?

Mr. Casual
07-17-2005, 11:52 PM
Yeah, you got it before it was a gem, Cahaz. (Before people realized that it was Enix's last game, and that it had a limited run, BTW). Also, coming from a rental store, of course it's going to be cheap. Not only has it passed hands several times, but rental stores don't know much about rare/uncomon/regular titles. They say "its a PSX games and all PSX games are $10" so it's $10 no matter what.

cahaz
07-18-2005, 12:46 PM
i didn't know the story behind the game, sorry. but i didn't criticize you because you paid that much for a game, i just say that ebay's the worst place to look if you want those kind of games.
you can't find any great deal on ebay anymore, and yes, the game was rented, but it's still 10 bucks, and if the video club sold it one week ago, it would still have been 10 bucks. i'm not trying to defend my buys to convince you it was a great deal, i'm just trying to convince you it's better to search in video clubs (i'm not saying to look at blockbuster, were maybe more than 200 persons can rent your game, and most of them are 10 year old kids that leave the cd on the floor and take it by it surface.), garage sales and flea markets, were you can find people that doesn't know what they are selling. You can find people like those all over ebay too, but since it's an auction, and that you compete with alot of other collectors that know the value of the game you're bidding on, it doesn't mather if the buyer doesn't know how wich system you can play this game. if the cd looks great (and always check the cd before buying..) but it as been rented, it's still ''10 bucks no matter what''.

this to say, look around your house before searching on ebay kids. there's so many innocent kids selling their stuff fro peanuts in a garage sale because they want the next gaming machine outside. And i'm not saying to look in the video games shops nearby, 'cause they know what they're selling.

try to find old and nameless video clubs, far from the city and nothing near blockbuster either, and you could find gold. ever heard of my gold mine with sealed nes, snes, n64 and psx games? :)

hope they'll drop the prices though, nes games are 10 bucks (wich is ok) but snes games are 29.99 and psx games around 49 and 59. it depends on the tittle for n64 games. i'll need to visit it again, i think i've seen grandia sealed last time, i hope i could conclude some kind of deal with them, or at least make them think about cutting the prices.:ramen

Well, ever since Summer, I have been redesigning my room after getting those shelves out. Im thinking of moving the bed over to put them back in, and then I wouldnt have to worry about not having enough space for a WHILE. I bet I would fit in with a Japanese type house since I cope with space pretty well, IMO. I just learned that I could fit more PSX cds on my shelving unit if I turned them on their side and made room for 5 more double cds or 10 singles...or 1 or 2 box sets.

I took pics while working, and it is the epitome of mess:
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v327/magicemperor2000/DSCF1837.jpg

Then, after everything was set up, I had some shelves that had nothing but console boxes and 1 DC on the top. I wasnt utilizing the space I had at its full potential. I had lots of toys stowed away in the bottom of the center, all around
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v327/magicemperor2000/DSCF1839.jpg

Then during the Holidays, I got the console boxes off the shelves and put them on the sides of the TV. They fit perfectly and the TV can breathe. I also found out that the DC fits perfectly next to the NES. :D I then put the toys on those Shelves, and in the area where they originally were, I put Cd binders and stuff in. After I got my presents on Christmas, I reorganized my shelves in preparation for when I get new stuffs!
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v327/magicemperor2000/DSCF2217.jpg

All this for a collection of 141 games, but believe me, the last year or so has been my biggest increase in games. Maybe 40% of my collection ever since I joined the boards. Most people here can buy a collection bigger than mine in just a few weeks or sometimes one transaction, but I think Im doing pretty well.

All right, I finally got some update pics up.

It took about 6 months to do, but I finally got my room redone. Over the last 6 months, I moved funriture around (Namely the bed), added the old shelves back in, got a new computer desk, threw away 99% of my posters, painted the walls, as well as get a few games along the way.

First off my ET center as of now:

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v327/magicemperor2000/DSCF2478.jpg

(It looks slanted, but its not) I fixed it where ALL of my games are showing and I have AMPLE space for new games now.

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v327/magicemperor2000/DSCF2479.jpg

As you can see, I got black sheets, black curtains, and dark Green paint on the walls. My whole room matches everything else almost, now.

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v327/magicemperor2000/DSCF2480.jpg

Well, here are my OLD shelves back in the room. I moved the bed over and used them to make more room on the ET center. My Mom tells me I'd have no trouble living in Japan with the way I organize my room.

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v327/magicemperor2000/DSCF2481.jpg

And here is my new Computer desk. It opens and closes with these two doors. It actually quietens up the room quite a bit when it is closed.

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v327/magicemperor2000/DSCF2482.jpg

Yeah. All the computer desks and things I used as PC desks werent as good as what Im using now.

This is my first "real" PC desk since it actually can hold all my PC components, like the monitor, without breaking like the cheap-o one I had before that. It fell apart as I was moving it out of the room, too!

I love the way my room is now. I do miss the posters a little bit, but I kept all the important ones and folded them up and put them away in binders and stuff. Like the old Lunar ads for instance.

I hope I get called for the application I sent into Wal-Mart, because then I'll build my custom PC. And get a TON more games.

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v327/magicemperor2000/P9180058.jpg

I had my PS1, DS, and PSP all kinda packed away, and I moved them to the unused space to the side of my bed on the shelving units. Oh, and I moved my PS1 CD stand over there as well as my PS1 CD binder, and my big fat Strategy guides. Also, I got an Ipod Video and a Radio tuner / Charger for it, too. My PSP game cases were moved there, too, as I don't have a PSP CD case.

Bought this yesterday. For those of you with lots of gadgets and gizmos that give off heat, these things are AWESOME. I've noticed a large difference in the temperature in my room, where it would be around 80 degrees just because of the lights and heat giving gadgets. Combined with the fluorescent lights, which give off less heat and give better "purer" light, imho, the temperature is about 75 or 70 degrees. Might not sound like much, but it is!

And finally, a newer picture of my collection as a whole. Though it kinda looks the same every time I take it.

Thats it for now!

After an extremely long time, I've finally hit the 250 games mark!:lol:

I took some update pics.

My DS and PSP games:

And I finally clean the dust and crap from my stuff. I had to use a mist sprayer at first to get the caked on dust gone.

Not really, I'll stack games to the ceiling if I have to!

But seriously, by the time I start making money like that, I'll have a place of my own and not have to live like a Japanese guy in a crowded apartment.

One question (I had always wanted to ask a figure collector): How do you keep your figures clean from dust? I see some models are a bit dusty, but how would you clean them, just in the case? Getting them a bath or just blowing away the thickest haze?

Dusting doesn't work. Trust me. Compressed air doesn't work. I used a spray bottle of water.

Might be a little dangerous to do though, it could get in my TV.

Hardly anythings changed over there (Its on top of my PC) but I did get an incense burner, too.

Its got articulation on it, but its more like a statue with posable arms. Moving the legs makes it lose its stability.

Its about 26 inches tall at the left wings talon. And its about 38 inches wide.

A REAL space hog.

Heres something I missed. Its not much, though. I got two Horus Heresy artbooks and a D&D statue at Books A Million a while back. Horus Heresy is WH40K related for those who don't know. Its like the "World War 2" of the series.

Hopefully by the middle or end of May, I'll update this thread with pictures of my PC.

Heh, the Horus Heresy. Is the book any good?

I haven't read the book, but I do know what goes on and who betrays who, and a lot of that other stuff from various online Encyclopedia sites like WIkipedia and the WH40K one, the Black Library.

This was my background for a really long time, and its a full TWO pages in that gigantic artbook.

Im CONSTANTLY reorganizing my collection..

Here is a more recent pic that I did, in an attempt to show off more of my games at once. A few people think my room looks like Gamestop now. lol!

I posted my collection on another forum and they told me to get rid of all the toys. Because they were "Too nerdy"

I don't know what I'd put up there on the shelf without them there though! I guess I could make room for more games, but still, I'd look nerdy either way.
