Is it possible to get a new, boxed as of today? And would the price range be..? Please share your thoughts..
/B
Well it depends which neo geo you want. Either way if you can find it mint your in for $50-100. I have never seen a boxed neo geo im my life, except when it was released. So just get one tthat looks like it's in good condition and works.
I'd say you would be lucky to find even a used loose one for $50. It's not a big problem to find boxed systems but in most cases the box will have clear signs of handling and something will be missing (plastic bags, leaflets). A complete NIB collector's piece can set you back around $150-200 (just an educated guess). Especially if it is an older model (low serial=better RGB output) and with the old-style joystick.

You'll be pleased to know you can buy a new NEO GEO AES from this link
http://www.telegames.co.uk/index.php?cPath=330_79_82&osCsid=3l3vs37vk290gglpkljssvvgs1
They charge far too much imo. I have seen 1 new Neo Geo on ebay before and it sold for Ģ180. That was ages ago thought.
If i where you, I'd check out http:\\www.neo-geo.com (http://www.neo-geo.com) and get yourself a modded one boxed in excellent condition.

what he said.
finding a minty neogeo with box shouldnt be much of a problem tho, just be willing to splash the cash, neogeo owners usually take great care of their stuff.

If you want a genuine NOS home system (and I mean NOS ie box never opened, box in perfect condition) they can be found..but be prepared to pay big. They used to run $800+ but you could probably find a true NOS one for a bit less now.
Just a nice boxed system shouldn't be more than $250 tops, for a really nice one. Although the white box rental systems (which have very low serials being the first neos made (mine is 6xxx) can run a bit more.

An unopened would of course be the ultimate.. I guess it all boils down to the sweet old child memories.. twelve years have past but I can really not forgive myself selling my neogeo.. I think still to this day itīs the most beautiful system ever produced.. Ok so anyways.. For new ones.. Is ebay the place where they surface.. When did you last se one? thanks

Occasionally I guess. Last NOS I saw on ebay was maybe 6-8 months ago from Hit Japan...box was fubared though, big big dent/crush/hole and much shelfware. (But I don't check ebay all that much)
Yahoo auctions, but again not for ages.
Other than that private contacts etc. I've been offered them numerous times but always say no. Much as I love NOS hardware there are better things I'd rather buy and the prices do seem stupid to me (plus 2 of my 4 systems could pass for new anyway they're so minty fresh). Sure, some homecarts are dirtily rare and pricey but systems are common as muck, and the extra premium you pay for an NOS unit, although admitedly a rare item of course, just seems stupid to me. You can get much rarer, and imo more worthwhile/collectible NOS hardware for less. Plus there's always the uncertainty that what you're buying isn't entirely NOS. I've seen people try and sell NOS homesystems that have been taken out of the box and baggies. Sure, they're not used, ie ever turned on, but if the system has greasy fingermarks on it its BS for sure and no way worth the price.
Easier to ask around on neo-geo.com forums.

Shawn in the Neostore had an absolutely brand new Neo Geo AES several years ago. It was priced at either $1200 or $1300. So be prepared to sell some organs for it. I'm not sure you will find one anymore that is just in absolutely perfect condition and unplayed. If so the seller can really command an exorbitant price for it. Plus if you get one, you're going to want to just keep it on a shelf and stare at it and show it off to your friends who come over. YOU'RE DEFINITELY NOT GOING TO PLAY IT SINCE THAT WILL BRING DOWN THE VALUE ENORMOUSLY!!! If you are just going to play it anyway then just get one of the ones that sell used on ebay for around $250-$300.

I agree with the previous post. I have the AES US Gold edition and it ran me around $299 USD (including shipping). It is CIB and in excellent condition (all items, including packaging and box). I have never seen one for sale NIB though - I can't imagine how much that would go for.

but it's been literally years since I've seen a NIB US version unit. Even the NIB Japanese versions go for $500-$800 most of the time. You can occasionally find one on yahoo auctions Japan for less, but then you have to contend with shipping and a bidding service.

I would not buy a "new" home system from anyone who doesn't possess the original shipping box. There's absolutely no way to prove that it's new. I bought a complete immaculate Japanese home system and extra goodies for ~$400, IMO that’s the way to go. The one I got has literally no signs of wear and could easily be sold as new, and probably would have been if it had been sold by another less honest seller. Japanese consoles often aren't even tape-sealed so buying new consoles is almost always a loosing proposition.

agrre with you man, my s/n 70.000+ (quite old) aes system looks like brand new, but it's used of course
i will reccomend to buy a so proclaimed new unit only from a very reliable dealer, like shawn at neo-geo.com and from well-known user at the neo-geo.com forum, but expect to spend no less than 1k usd
and btw neo geo collectors are super anal about conditions, i'm one of them ;), and yes the neo aes is the greatest system ever made:nod:

I have the opportunity to buy a new _never opened_ us unit for 1k USD. Question is, will neo geo units continue to rise in value (taken inflation into consideration) for letīs say the comming 5-10 years or has it already reached itīs peak?
On a side note. What do you think about the ps1 (old model) and value in the same timespan, like 5-10 years?
There is a shop that sells new (NRFB) NG systems for ~550 EUR. Unfortunately I don't recognize the name but I didn't make it up, I promise :P

There's Moreoshop (sp?) on ebay that has a few NOS systems..albeit with piccies of the contents. Cheaper that 1K USD too.
But then again how can you be certain a new unit has never been opened!

Yeah, I meant Moeroshop. Band new NGHs are out of stock now as I should have expected though.

I sold a lot of neogeos and the prices are between 150-250 euros depending of the state of the box, if it has manual, normaly with some games etc etc
I see 2 or 3 new neogeos on yahoo sometimes, but the price are between 600-700 euros.
The most difficult sytem is the Neogeo 0 (white box) and I've never seen new-unused. This systems are previous to "neogeo AES" (commercial one). Only for rental in japan. They have the first serials (I thing 0-15000 more or less). It's different inside that a regular AES system, you can plug and unplug the bios without any soldering.
I have one in good state (serial 8316):

Most of those "NEW" neo geo units on Moreoshop do have a slight used look about them, damaged joystick balls, missing manuals, different components in box, hmm...

That's because just about all of their gear was former Telegames/Direct 4 Games/Whatever We Want to Call Ourselves This Week stock. I don't know that they are necessarily being dishonest about what they were told the condition of the stuff was when they bought it from Telegames, but like much of Telegames' stock, it's not necessarily brand new nor is it necessarily direct from the manufacturer, but rather obtained from wholesalers and other sources over the years in large liquidation lots.

So in all honesty you can't really say they are new, if they have passed through many hands then it's likely that some of them are a little used and it's likely that some are just mint second hand machines. Calling them new is stretching the truth a little. Looking at 6 of them, not one of them jumped out at me and said "Yes I am minty fresh new, honest guv". You also said Telegames who were know for selling mint second hand stuff as new...

Any of them are new ... I can see that there are "details" that shown that this systems aren't new. I have a friend with a genuine new neogeo aes and there are little "differences".
All are in "mint" conditions (well maybe all no) as I can see but any of them are new. How can be a joystick new if it is unboxed por example or has the ball damaged? Or how can be a consola new if he has erased letters or missed things??
If this systemas are "new", than I have 3 new neogeos
I'm agree with Jamtex. I think the shop must say "mint" in some cases but never new.

I like to give people the benefit of the doubt. Unused, but touched. I got a new GT from Direct 4, the box had clearly been opened but the contents were untouched, just checked I guess. So not new I suppose as a new console has an unopened box. So yeah those neos aren't new. But where to find an unopened boxed neo home system. How would you ever know it had never been open. Meh!

My past sales....
Japanese AES New & Unused: $600
April 2007
I sold a second one that had a "not new" controller for about $500, I think, around the same time.
I haven't seen any new ones on Yahoo for quite some time.

Just my opinion, but the items on Moero aren't new. There are actually quite a few signs.
There are a few ways that you can tell. One are the cables, some of which have obviously taken out of their twist ties. New cables are wrapped perfectly and use black twist ties. On one of his units the twist tie is green.
If the controller ball is cracked then it's used.
The condition of the baggies are also suspect. New units usually have mostly unbent, clear baggies. On one of the console the baggies looks like it's been bundled up in a ball for most of it's life. It's 100% wrinkled. That shouldn't be like that on a system that's supposed spent most/all of it's life in the box.

Maybe the game was being sent to the middle east. I do like the way he says...
You are bidding on a BRAND NEW NeoGeo AES game !
Then says
Censored cover, the game has been unsealed long ago to censor the instruction booklet and cartridge art.

I talked to someone on NG.com and he sold two brand new unopened US gold system many years ago for $1200 each.
Why are the new systems in the Mega 330 boxes? I didn't know the systems ever came in those boxes? I though it's either the rental or black boxes.
