also have JPN Modem as well as Twinstick box sets for sale...
it says you need X-band modem and media card in order to run this thing so guess it isn't for the Vs link cable then...

I bought two Saturn modems boxed for 480 yen 2 weeks ago in Akihabara and a few Netlink games for 400 yen apiece... guess the modems wont work though. I also got a US Netlink but I wasnt really looking to part with it, but for a good enough offer/trade... ;-)

Wizkid just to let you know JAPANESE SATURBN NETWORK GAMES ARE ***NO LONGER ** playable online.
JP SegaSaturn network games used a prepaid card/webmoney system in which you swiped the card. credit card style, in the reader on the modem which gave you credits/playing itme online.
The ONLY Saturn games still playable onlime through direct-dial are the US Saturn games. I'm not tryign to detract from anyone's sales BUT you should know that Japanese games will not go online : Vo specifically is apparently ONLY an onlinmegame and won't even work offline = unaplayable.

Mmm, I had VO and the Twinsticks and played it just fine in single and two-player on my "switched" Saturn. Definitely not only an online game.

was it red colour network edition Virtual On?
see the picture I posted ealier...
On its cover it says it requires X-Band Modem in order to work.
not sure whether you need to be connected or just the presence of the modem is suffice for playing...
mines are sealed new and have no plan to break as I already have normal VO for both JPN and PAL.

Well, erm - no shit. ^_^ You were playing the regular edition. The SegaSaturn Networks version requires the modem and is online-only, or at least is playable only with the modem installed.
