I just got Blue Stinger for Dreamcast and was going to play it, and noticed this on Googler...
http://www.gamespot.com/xbox/action/illbleed/news.html?sid=6100692
The part I'm interested in is:
"The earlier Dreamcast creations of Nishigaki are tentatively scheduled for release in Japan on the Xbox console in late 2004. Cool Net Entertainment of Tokyo, Japan, has its development departments working on bringing Illbleed and Blue Stinger to the Xbox console, each complete with an added level, according to Coolnet President Shigeo Kamata. According to Kamata, no decision has been made on whether the games will receive distribution outside of Japan."
This never happened did it? Kinda sad the creator guy died...
I also know the japanese version of this game had an RE type of camera system, and the USA one didn't. It seems to me like the Japanese one would be better...I guess I'll find out if the game sucks or not in a second, but yeah, anyone know about those ports?

Yeah, the XBOX versions of either game never did see the light of day. The screen shots I saw looked just like the Dreamcast version though to be honest.

I wonder what happened to the Xbox builds? It sounds like they were far along.

Fully explains why the us release didn't happen and why the other games never went forward.

Reading those "two" links was like reading a record that kept skipping back to the same part time and time again.

I remember someone working on an english patch for the Megadrive version of Rent a Hero years ago. Not sure whatever became of it.

Why SEGA didn't published them....
BTW, I could swear I saw RaHn1 in the usual places...maybe it was the JP version.

The sad thing is, around 2003 I started seeing mock-up boxes for the US version of Rent A Hero in game stores around my area for pre-ordering
The art design looked remarkably similar to the Japanese box (albeit in full English) and I kind of wish now that I had snagged one since it really did appear to be based on a final design.

I'm shocked the final us version never got leaked. A lot of magazines had reviewed it.

Rent-a-Hero: a 3 level demo for the xbox (in English...prob the E3 demo) was almost made public a year or 2 ago but interest never peaked and the plan was abandoned. I can't remember who it was but they posted here...may still do?
Around the same time there was also talk that amongst 'collectors' (i.e. ppl who don't (or rarely) encourage public releases, there was a full English language version with all the levels included/translated.
I't's not hard to find pictures of the E3 demo online (just search these forums, i'm sure). As for any conclusive 'proof' the full version exists in collectors hands? I've never seen any.
Someone should leak it! why?...because unlike many, many unreleased games that suddenly appear on the web = this one was actually v.good and deserves a wider audience :) (imho)
In Japanese the satirical humour (an essential part of the game) is all but lost to anyone who doesn't understand the language. :(

I swear a rent a hero will always be cursed when it comes to translation.
Sega of America never considered it for us release on dreamcast even though a lot of magazines and sites were previewing it.
Eiddlon attempted to translate the mega drive original, then after e-mailing them found out they weren't working atm and probably wouldn't finish the translation.
Then it's announced it was getting a U.S. release for xbox I was so excited I actually bought one. Needless to say I was very disappointed when it was canceled.

How does the japanese fixed angles affect this game? Better or worse? I honestly couldn't get into it at all. The voices are great though, lol.

If you want assembler I got a copy of the english rent a hero, though I think it's still floating out there it was a big release.
Only reason I mentioned the whole bumped thing was the two articles I linked to that explained why rent a hero didn't get released also told the fate of blue stinger and illbleed on xbox.

So, since your asking, does that mean somebody somewhere has it or something? I couldn't find anything on it other then it was in the works.

I remember seeing a promotion video for Blue Stinger on the XBOX and to be honest it looked just like the Dreamcast version. Of course this wasn't "live" footage of the game but a pre-recorded sample disc for XBOX. It may have been the Dreamcast version running on that disc for all I know.

Sorry I was talking about the Xbox version of Rent-A-Hero. Blue Stinger and Illbleed just dropped off the radar completely.
