Alright, I'm sure this has been posted in the bowels of the internet somewhere, but I just can't find it. I have this Famicom clone that is possibly dead, possibly alive, but for lack of a power led and the fact that the Famicom signal shows up on Channel 99.25 or whatever the hell it is, I can't test. So I thought I might try to A/V mod the thing like the later Famicom system. Can anyone link me to a website that would help? I know the mods are designed for an original Fami and not a clone, but I'm hoping that mine would work as its case is designed to look exactly like a Famicom, and I'm hoping the circuitry inside will be similar.

If anything, it would give me some soldering practice...

I imagine it can't be too hard to figure out if it uses one of those famicom on a chip thingees.

I heard most (if not all) famiclones use the FC-on-a-chip.
Perhaps http://www.tripoint.org/kevtris/Projects/portendo/nesonachip.html
will be of some assistance?

Thanks for the help, Anti, but I took mine apart just to check and it appears that it's the traditional 3 or 4 chip variety. If it would help anyone, I could post some pics of the thing, but my digicam is shite :snipe: and can only provide a blurry picture.

I modded my NES 2 a year or 2 ago, and it came out great. :smt023

Check this site out, I know they have a mod for the NES 2/Famicom A/V: http://www.gamesx.com

AnalogWinter, thanks for the link, but the site appears to be down for me.. :smt009 I'll check later this evening.

And I'd LOVE to get a sharp twin famicom, but the only issue is price. I'm almost thinking of giving one of those ripoff Yahoo! Japan bidding services a shot - It'd probably still be cheaper than on eBay.
