View Full Version : Unreleased Games Community Dumps?

I originally posted this a long time ago in the community dumps section for Mega Drive, but no one ever got back to me about being serious with these games.

The last game I had dumped was Prince of Persia 2 for the Mega Drive/Genesis. This is only a list of the Mega Drive/Genesis unreleased stuff I have. In order for me to get these dumped/released, I need to be compensated so I do not lose my shirt on the value of these carts. There are collectors that pay a MINT for undumped carts, and some I will not part with the dump period, only a set amount of money for each game. I know a lot of people will probably chastise me for this mess, but I have done the legwork and paid a good amount of money for a lot of games over the years, and I do not think it is the "right" of people to complain and obtain a game to play for free while the collector has to pay a lot of money for the cart.

In any event, I have been involved with sharing numerous unreleased NES games to the community, and am in the process of doing the same for Genesis and SNES if needed.

The list of unreleased games I have for Mega Drive/Genesis are asfollows:
Sega Genesis unreleased games?

Since everyone is talking about community dumps, I figure I might as well throw these into the pot to see if anyone is interested in helping me offset some of the cash I spent on them awhile ago. If there is ANY interest, please AIM me as DreamTR, or EMAIL me at: nesflorida@aol.com

Please note, I am not 100% certain which of these are dumped or undumped, and these are ONLY the unreleased games I have. If you are looking for specific games that are in prototype form for released games with differences, I have a good amount of prototypes for GB, GBC, GBA, NES, Genesis, SNES, Game Gear, and more.

Again, I am here to help, so I don't appreciate being chastised by certain people who think I should dump games and dig them out for free. This is precisely why certain people do not take to the dumping community at times.

Its been said before and anyone who complains or bitches at people to release things for free will get a telling off from the moderators.

Also a note to everyone else THIS IS NOT A SALES THREAD so do not make it one please.

Paulo: Thank you.

This is for discussion of what the community would like to see dumped, and the amount of compensation necessary for each game, also, who would be able to dump it.

I nominate Power of Jurai for the Genesis/Mega Drive stuff, not sure if he has access to the other systems.

I'm pretty sure a VR Test Cart has been dumped. I remember playing around with it but I couldn't tell you the revision.

Virtua Hamster and X-Men have my interest, but we'd have to start talking about how much to donate, because I don't have $50 to shell out for a megabyte or two worth of data.

Pengu and Puyo Puyo came out in Japan.

That said I'd be up for offsetting some of the cash you spent on Pengu (love that game) and the 32x stuff. I feel an email brewing:)

Cartridge shipping isn't that expensive. $20 max. Shipping consoles is more expensive though.

20$ for a cart is pretty spensive

you get that box yet?

drx: it's better I ship through Jurai like last time. That worked out really well.

For dumps, yeah. But I'd like to buy some actual carts too, hehe.

I'm up for $50 for each of the 32x stuff and Pengu, more if needed.

Well, we would have to talk privately about sales. AS for dumps, I am looking for as we said before:

$200 each for dumps of Virtua Hamster and X-Men

if you want a dump of Pengo, that's also $200.

This is a really neat thread. It's interesting to hear what is out there. I'd contribute but I don't have any funds that aren't already set to go elsewhere.

Just curious, is that Power Slide FX for SNES a GSU1 or GSU2 (SFX or SFX2) game? It would be neat so convient to have a SFX2 board with sockets for EPROMs to make a StarFox 2 cartridge. ;)

you can just wire a eprom to a regular super fx cart so...

you dont need a gsu2 board for starfox 2 because the only difference between gsu1 and gsu2 is the adressable rom size. gsu1=8mbit, gsu2=16mbit
both chips run just fine in 10 and 21 mhz mode.
the mario chip is the only one of the bunch that probably would have trouble running in 21mhz mode. however, it was only used in starwing and afaik, all sfx protocarts that went to 3rd party developers were at least equipped with a gsu1.

personally, i'd be most interested in a dump of power slide aswell.
how much do you want to dump that one?

there was some talk on liquidninjas that the optimum starfox 2 cart was either olympic gold or whatever it is, or to use a 1.0 stunt race and overclock it, from what i recall anyway.

but id imagine d4s knows more on the subject..

I know for a fact that the first two types (Mario Chip, GSU-1) can be overclocked to run at 28MHz so that's not a problem. A while back I replaced the ceramic resonator on my Vortex cartridge (GSU-1) with a quartz crystal, no problems, much better frame rate.

the mario chip is the only one of the bunch that probably would have trouble running in 21mhz mode.

If I remember right, most of the problems with the Mario chip stemmed from the fact that the game PCB didn't have its own crystal, instead it used the on on the SNES motherboard. I may be wrong though.

You got any Saturn stuff perchance?

I didn't mean to drag this off topic, but one thing that is interesting about the Mario Chip in StarFox is that it DOES work through copiers and adapters that no other chip games (except dsp) will run through. Yet SFX and SFX2 (GSU1/GSU2) fail in many adapter/copiers through the cartridge slot. Wonder why that is. And while it's true I could just wire to an existing SFX cart I was just saying it would be so much easier to have a board with an EPROM socket already on it. From what I've seen it would be very difficult to put your own socket on a retail board, and I think putting a socket on a retail board makes more sense for non-chip games.

But anyways, back to the protos, I'm most interested in that 32X X-Men prototype. But then again that's the only name I really recognize, and I love the 32X stuff.

i dunno bout that 32x xmen, screenshots ive seen aren't exactly flattering, to put it mildly.

PowerSLide? Probably around 400$ for a dump of that one.

I have those virtual hamster and xmen protos also, they are very interesting but totally unplayable maybe both they are completed 20-30% maximum. There is no gameplay in both of them. (at least the versions I have)

when i remember right, wintergold is the optimum for SF2 because this board has sram to save your highscore. if you dont care for highscores, a board with GSU1 is just fine for SF2, D4s is right! ;)

i recall someone saying that their hamster cart let you pick up powerups, so id guess that would imply that his was playable

There are builds of Virtua Hamster that are playable, well playable enough where you can move around and do stuff.

As for X-Men on 32X...it was always shite. ;)

As I recall (though I may be wrong) all SFX boards have SRAM, including Doom that is GSU2 I believe, however was is optional is the battery for saving things like highscores. You can attach a battery to a board like Doom I believe. What would be optimum would be a GSU board that has a regular MASK rom with a wider distance between chip pins making it easier to wire up your own ROM chip. Using an IDE ribbon cable sounds like a pain in the ass.

Anyways, sounds like X-Men was pretty crappy. It's a shame it wasn't like a semi-playable X-Men COTA port. ;)

In my version you can only run through a tube, at a certain point you can choose left or right but there is no end to it, you keep running. No enemies, no goal...nothing!
It is alot like the 3d bonus stage in Sonic 2 only 10x more terrible and ugly...
To me XMEN is lots more fun and more to the end of development, at least my version. You can choose different levels, a few have enemies but it is not clear what to do.

Hi, the game Scatters SMD - which genre?
