So I got this box in the mail from a Japanese seller....

He decided to wrap the entire box with tape. A lot of it. The box was first wrapped with matte shipping tape. Then it was wrapped with wrapping paper. Then it was wrapped again with matte shipping tape. Then the matte shipping tape was wrapped with glossy shipping tape. In the end it was 4 layers: tape - paper - tape - tape.

The above picture doesn't even do it justice since a lot of the strips have multiple layers of tape on them.

Anyway, I just got the feeling this guy liked tape.

LOL. That's funny. It was less funny when some guy shipped my item and taped directly onto the item's box

Was the item well packed inside? as he may have thought the tape was sufficient :-)

Well, at least it wasn't wrapped with human skin.

When I bought some OST CDs, the ebay seller wraped the box in some green, textured paper. I think it was wall paper lol.

On the contrary, he must hate tape. If he loved it he would keep it all to himself.

I still loved receiving saturn games from yakumo in what can only be described as a sandwich box!

hahaha, yep those plastic cases are my trade mark ! 100% sure way to get games to your buyers without the case smashed to bits.

What kind of cases?

it's a hard flexable plastic case that can fit up to 3 CD based games with padding or 4 without. I use them to post games overseas since they are stronger and lighter than boxes plus they are alot better against water than a box. Best of all is that you can use them time and time again.

At least he put some tape on it, a friend of mine got a box with its sides juxtaposed instead of taped or glued, so the item inside got out of the box in the way to the post office, never to be seen again...

I honestly like the way the Japanese overwrap/overprotect items that they ship to you. Ever buy a game console from Japangamestock? I swear they use about 3 lbs worth of bubble wrap to ship a $30 DC!

And yeah, I quite like Yakumo's CDbox shipping method. In fact, I even reused a few of them. :)

My PS2 Test was shipped from the US. It arrived in a box you could have shipped a large 4x4 car engine in. When I opened that box I discovered a sea of poly chips (which my children proceeded to cover the house in) and lo another box! Inside that box, was a box! All of this was wrapped in slightly less tape than the original poster was complaining / enthusing about and enough poly chips for me to send well wrapped items to buyers for quite some time.

The funny thing is, the PS2 Test was shipped as a faulty item, missing parts and looking like something the cat dragged in from a bonfire! It would have made no difference had it been shipped in a polythene dust bag and gaffa taped to a brick!

<You might be interested to know it had enough working parts to be refurbished and now works perfectly well>

I also keep an Xbox Alpha in the original box (yes, it truly was THAT big!)

Once I got an item that was shipped in a cheap $10 handbag (domestic shipping in Japan). The seller just put the item inside of it and wrote my address on a small piece of cardboard that he attached to the handle of the handbag with string. I got my item and new bag for the gym...heh.
